Husband is Qantas silver, requested an upgrade from PE to J when we booked his flight 2 months ago.

We did put upgrade right up to the desk on our booking. Newbie so trying to get the handle on all this.

He got uograded to 14b ? exit row upstairs!!! I think he has been spoiled for life!!!!

Now just hoping for return trip job syd on 25 August. Quite a lot of j showing on seat alert so hers hoping. I believe there is better chance when it's mid week.

My guess is that unless he plans on paying Qantas for the upgrade - he will need a much higher status than silver - to qualify for a 'free' upgrade. Good luck with this!

The OP was talking about a points upgrade to J which is a form of paid upgrade - you've somehow made the assumption they were after a freebie.
