Have received an offer to upgrade (from premium economy, booked with points) to business. Santiago to Sydney on the 15th.
Be grateful for suggestions, thoughts on what I should offer in either/and/or points, cash please?

QF28 on 15Dec looks very full in Business as it is (showing J4 C4 D0 I0 availability) so chances are that status passengers will get upgrade seats in the next day or two ahead of bids. ie: I am not sure of your chances here.

As for what to bid? Whatever you feel comfortable giving up for the value I suppose. Probably not the minimums

but again, I've got a feeling your bid may never get assessed tbh. Could be wrong of course(wouldn't be the first time :) ) and I hope you can get upgraded!

Thought that may. E

Thought that may be the case, thankyou for looking at the loadings and your reply, appreciated. I am a lowly bronze so not holding my breath!🤞

It is a bit odd.

That they are even asking suggests that insufficient standard upgrade requests have been received to fill the seats.

But, as pointed out, with just 4 seats free in Business that does itself seem unlikely.

It may not actually be 4 seats. The seat map had 7 unallocated iirc, but that doesn't mean a whole lot either. The point is though it is quite full clearly.

These bid for upgrade things seem to be disconnected from actual inventory and just seem to go out. I guess on the off hand, but I don't think they (QF) are smart enough to actually do this due to that.

I mean I've had bid for upgrade emails when I have an upgrade request in, and I've also had solicitations to buy a Qantas Club pass despite being LTG and P1 (with access to dom J lounges) which means it's hardly an intelligent CRM they have going on for this stuff.

imo anyway.
