I'm flying to HKG on Monday night on QF29 and applied for a points upgrade from economy to business several weeks ago. Can anyone out there with various software packages please let me know how many seats in bus currently available, and what the chances of the upgrade are (bearing in mind it's now Friday afternoon) ?

thanks

There are quite a few business seats available on 21/8.

I think you are in with a good chance (depending on status, of course)!

You might be in luck, at least 12 J seats avbl
I assume you are looking at the seat map?
If so, it generally over-estimates availability as pax may not have a seat allocated yet. I suspect there are less than 12 available.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Doing the same this evening; my account is now 40K QFF points lighter ;) ... (Been Showing ... A4 ... D9 ... Y0-Y3 ... for the last fortnight ... Even a Z1 appeared). Now showing D0 Y9, but here were still 8 unallacted J seats this morning.

As far as Monday Night goes, it's showing:

F9 A9 Z0 P0 J9 C9 D9 I3 U0 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 R9 L0 V0 S0 ...

A Seaet map shows at least 12 unallocated J seats; this is a bit less than I had but your chances seem reasonable.

thanks guys. am platinum, so if comes down to status, I should be ok.

Any update on number of seats ?

By the way, Serfty mentioned that his points were deducted in the afternoon - several hours ahead of the flight - how early does qantas deduct the points ? I had assumed that they wait until the last possible moment ?

Business availability seems fine; selling out in WHY.

Showing F9 A9 Z0 P0 J9 C9 D9 I3 U0 Y5 B6 H5 K6 M5 R6 L0 V0 S0 N0 Q0 O0 G0 T0 X0 E0

Seat map shows 6 unallocated seats; there may be up to 10 (upper deck exit rows show as 'allocated' always). As a WP you have a chnace; I conject that 3-4 seats may be made available.

This seems to vary, but from experience, they don't wait until the last minute. Usually early to mid same day.
Not uncommon for points to be deducted by 10am for a late-night flight.
