Interested to know if anyone has experience with MU domestic upgrades either cash or points and can you transfer points to MU via a hotel program as AMEX transfer seems to be not possible.
There is a back story to my question, I booked x2 J rewards SYD-PVG-HRB for MrsM and MissM, ticketed with no issues. I then booked revenue J SYD-PVG-HRB (self on the same flights) a couple of month back, the booking never ticketed. It was the PVG-HRB sector that was the issue and after a few calls I informed that QF cannot book MU Domestic in J either as code share or on MU flight number which was odd as the fights were being sold by QF website. The only way the booking would sick was to make the PVG-HRB sector in Y on an MU flight number. The booking seems to have been sorted and it was more important I was on the same flights rather than flying separately.
Now here is the real question how does one upgrade one upgrade on an internal MU flight, if ticketed by QF. The upgrade is for flight on the domestic sector only and is a MU flight number. I am not a member of the MU FF program but can/would join, questions can you:
For the record over the past couple of months I have become frustrated at times, however the QF customer service agents have always stated this would get resolved and once the problem was identified it was rectified. Hindsight is 20/20 and looking back on this plan I may have been better off using *A combo of AC or SQ and ANA rather that OW QF, MU (QF partner) and JL. Live and learn however any help with MU upgrade advice most welcome.

- Request an upgrade just on the MU sector
- Can this be done with points
- If yes to above how can you transfer points to MU. MU it is not on the AMEX partner list or can points transfer be done via HH/ SPG, I would be ok to move points through different programs on the basis that the transfer loss was not to great.
- Are MU points upgrade requests confirmed instantly or are like the QF lotto.
- Can you upgrade with cash
