Hi there,

I have booked my wife on a PE ticket using my points (non classic award seat / any seat award). This has it's own booking ref number.

I have my booking on the same flight in PE (we are seated together etc) but it has a separate booking ref number because the ticket is paid.

the 2 different booking refs are linked in the QF system (I called up right after booking and took care of that & seating assignments so we were together and they knew that)

I want to request an upgrade to J for both of us. Now I can go into each booking separately and request the upgrade, no dilemma there. My dilemma is as follows:

I understand from speaking with the QF FF call centre that the 'system' will not recognise both of the booking refs as linked. when it comes to upgrades it just works of the QFFF number & status. I am LTG & my wife only flies a few times a year so is Bronze. Obviously I want to avoid a situation where I am upgraded and she is not.

Phone operator suggested there was a good chance of me being upgraded (QF15 BNE - LAX this Saturday 22nd) as there is about 20 seats left in J & PE cabin is heavily booked and my sLTG. Wife would be another story though. He could not tell how many others in PE cabin had requested upgrades.

does anyone know how you get around this kind of thing?

thanks in advance for help.

There are reports ( unconfirmed) that it is the status of the member who makes the upgrade request from their account that determines the priority for upgrades.
You could always request both and if only one upgrade is granted give that seat to your wife ? ;)

That has happened before. We want to sit together for the trip though.

The QF ff guy was pretty certain that one request won't influence the other despite the booking refs being linked.
