A newbie question.
Am booked United SYD/LAX 12/June/14, and have applied for Mileage Plus Upgrade from Economy to Business (30,000 miles plus co pay $600). Am presently "Waitlisted".

What are the chances of actually getting this? Am only Premier Silver member of Mileage Plus.

Should I consider "purchasing" upgrade at desk on check-in? And again what are the probabilities of that?

Any comments appreciated.

I'd say your chances, at the moment, are pretty good. Showing as J9 C9 D9 Z9 P9. Seat map is showing only 4 allocated seats.

Are you 1K or GS with UA? I'm not sure if miles and co-pay trump elites using their upgrades though.

Thanks for your reply. No, I'm not 1K only Premier Silver.
Any further replies welcome.

I'm guessing your chances are good. If you have an Expert Flyer account, keep an eye on it as it gets closer to the date.
