Today I saw some news that he surely worth exploring and sharing which is that United Airlines is going to make it a condition of flying that they can remove passengers who don't use headphones when watching their phones and/or iPads. I can't believe I'm the only person who finds this irritating, regardless of which class I am flying, but especially in economy.

United Airlines updates contract to remove passengers who don’t use headphones

I am sure this is a common frustration amongst forum members and worthy of investigation by every airline.

I hope this catches on. I can't stand people watching movies without headphones in public spaces. Often I'll ask them to use headphones, but that doesn't always go down well.

Hear hear!!! That is very good news indeed. Hope it spreads to other carriers.
Most people don't want to hear!

(But agree that the use of phones etc without headphones is a scourge of the modern age.)

Shake my head in disbelieve.at people wandering around the supermarket; phone loudspeaker on full volume airing their "personal" conversations to all & sundry.

Not just that, watching TV!
At least in a supermarket they’re not really affecting anyone else, people are mostly just trying to find things on shelves so the extra noise doesn’t have a lot of impact … but I honestly don’t see the attraction of watching some soapie or other while trying to shop, surely the shopping process interrupts the TV-enjoying process?
