Went out full today and looking at the loads for the next week they do look pretty decent outbound.
Be interesting to see the stats

The first ADL-SFO will be this week.
Id imagine the SA government and tourism bodies won’t want to lose it so I’d expect it to be funded for many years ahead securing its future.
It’s when the tap is turned off or eased is the question.
they are also domestically uncompetitive I would say...internationally uncompetitive
I don’t know the full details or amount the state has stumped up but loads do seem decent current and there has been a pretty big increase in demand for PE and J thanks to the large number of US folk coming here for the defence work. Outbound freight is very strong too.A very poor use of public funds, especially when state governments are mired in increasing debt.
These 'deals' are always shrouded in secrecy.
What research do state governments do into how many passengers are inbound tourists or businessmen (in this case from USA and connecting airports) rather than Australian residents travelling to the USA?
Almost always, the 'economic benefits' claimed are grossly exaggerated.
Far better to let the market decide. Adelaide's population (and population growth) is minimal compared to the four much larger state capitals, and nearby tourism offerings such as expensive Kangaroo Island are internationally uncompetitive.
A backwater.
