Any way of getting around this without adult present. Hypothetical only but under18missquickstatus flying by self to/from US, and I'm thinking W-C-Scenario she has to overnight in airport

Is this more likely to be an under-21 age restriction, due to state liquor laws? Does the hotel have a mini-bar? Will they empty it on request?

Some hotels may enforce any age restriction, others maybe not?

Thx

Hotels in US have a checkin policy which excludes under 18 checking in without an adult

Apart from contacting hotel(s) in question, I was wondering if other AFF members have had experience re this issue.

I'm not looking to explore the pros and cons of under 18 checkin

I'm sorry. I thought that from your original post you were looking at a way of getting around the age restriction, which I have no experience with but just put a comment out there about the under-21 issue, let alone under-18.

Anyway, good luck in your endeavour.

Edit: Maybe looking through Flyertalk posts may come up with something of use: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/travelbuzz/1264807-hotel-minimum-check-age.html

Thx DC3 for at least replying. Yes you are right. I'm wanting info about people's experiences about this and hopefully maybe some experiences in getting around this.

I'll ring a few hotels to see if their rule can be "bent" if I give them a "letter of comfort" and a credit card guarantee.

I have heard some will and some won't under any circumstances.

It will only be needed if there is travel disruption.

I know that last year Qantas put an underage traveller (friend of MissQS) up in an LAX hotel due to Qantas flight delays and it was OK

But I'm worried about travel disruption causing MissQS to miss a flight on a different PNR. One (DL) ALB-ATL-LAX connecting to the other PNR (VA) LAX-SYD. 3.5 hr layover in LAX

As a reference point the same rule applies in Australia.

I witnessed it the other night in Melbourne

When underage teen has travelled ahead of us overseas I booked the room under my name and listed my daughter as second person in the room, checking in before us in the notes section.

My 17yo son tried to book a room in a Sydney hotel. He was told by the staff member to walk outside and make the booking by phone or Internet and then walk back inside to pick up the key.
