Hi All

Due to a change in school scheduling for next year, our eldest daughter will be unable to join us on our family holiday until mid way through the trip.

She turns 12 on the 11th of March and is able to travel on the 9th of March after her school camp. On the 9th we will be in Kuala Lumpur

My original thought was, I would book her to fly PER to KUL on Air Asia, they seem unwilling to even book her as an adult until she turns 12 (Even though this is only 2 days after the desired flight date). She does not need to be minded whilst at the airport and on the plane, as she is a very frequent overseas flyer, seems a bit overzealous.

I was then considering Malaysia Airlines who will accept her to fly by herself at age 11 and 363 days however they are almost three times the price.

Is this something worth taking up with somebody higher up the chain at Air Asia who may be able to authorise her to travel 2 days prior to turning 12? Or is there another airline/method you can suggest?

really appreciate your feedback!!

Is it possible she could wait the two days until she turns 12? I realise that is two days out of the family holiday but it would resolve all of the existing problems.

It seems there is somebody who will take her from school camp to the airport so maybe she could stay with them?

That's definitely our last resort at this stage... I am hoping that we can get a human to make a decision based on circumstances and that she is *so* close to her being 12 or an alternative before we make her wait it out

I wish you luck in this. I fear the answer will be a strict 'no' purely from an insurance point. Lawyers and the like rule the world unfortunately :(

How about another airline that would accept her as a UM?

Easy solution - pay the MH fare.

D7 are a LCC, so I wouldn't hold any hope for them to budge.

Cut the school camp as she will learn more by travelling and it is just one year and not all of her school camp years.
