Unable to link Qantas lounge to booking (International - Trans Tasman)?

Hi Guys,

I have a complimentary Qantas lounge pass issued through my credit card provider.
The lounge pass is appearing on my Qantas FF account.

I have made a booking for a MEL-AKL flight next week (Economy), and am wanting to add my Qantas lounge pass to the account.
However every time I go to the complimentary lounge pass page, my flight doesn't appear to 'link'.

I have tried messaging QF on social media, and have had no reply. Also have tried calling QF Frequent Flyer, but I have been on hold for so long and no one picks up. I am a bit worried, considering that they say you must link the lounge pass at least 24 hours before the flight.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do from here?

Thanks so much!

Only the First Class lounge is open at the moment in MEL and SYD and that's not expected to change for several months until significantly more QF flights are added to more international destinations.

With only the FLounge open there simply isn't enough capacity to welcome in passengers using complimentary lounge passes.

  • If you’re travelling from Australia to New Zealand in Business, or if you’re a Platinum One, Platinum, Gold Frequent Flyer or Qantas Club member, you’re invited to visit the Sydney or Melbourne First lounge until the Business lounges reopen.

I'm not sure they are allowing Comp passes in the International Lounges at the moment.

They are not. They should start accepting them again once the business lounges reopen, but that probably won't be till the end of the year at the earliest and quite probably next year sometime.

QF told other media sites that the ability to link invitations to trans Tasman flights would be coming sometime during May.

You'll just have to keep checking as it could be updated at any time but until that happens you're out of luck. Once they do fix it those with single-use invitations will be able to use them in Brisbane (at the international business lounge) and in Sydney/Melbourne (at the first lounges). It won't be possible to use them for access to Air New Zealand lounge which is what Qantas is currently using in New Zealand.

Ah, I forgot about that. It's worth noting though that you may not be able to use them at peak times. So if the flights are full with lots of people with lounge access through flying business, status or QANTAS Club membership or Chairman's Lounge lounge access may be denied.

This will not be a problem. If you've stepped foot in an international terminal lately you'll know what I mean.

Qantas typically has 3 flights in the morning from Melbourne to NZ. An A330 and 2x 737's which isn't much when you consider the number of oneworld flights from Melbourne pre covid.

I was able to access my complimentary lounge passes earlier today, and transferred 2 of them to my daughters QF account.
Now that I try to link them to her flights later this year, I keep getting: Something went wrong. Please try again later.
I have several months until our flights, hope they will be usable by September.

The VIP Services Team advised me last week that invitations are not currently able to be linked to international bookings. Both P1 invitations and those given to silver members and credit cards. They could not tell me if / when this would change.
