I received the following notification what do I do now. Has anybody gone through a similar situation. 2 Days ago i had reserved a room and have had confirmation email sent to me, with Itinerary No 1554xx_XX. Now this morning I get this:

10/9/2010

Dear Marki,

Greetings from Hotels.com,

We have been contacted by the Hilton Boston Financial District in regards to your reservation with them. Unfortunately the hotel is unable to accept your reservation. Due to these unforeseen circumstances, we would like to relocate you to another property. Please contact the Hotel Partner Support Department who will assist you in finding alternate accommodations.

Please call our Hotel Partner Support Department at +800-1-397-3342 regarding alternate accommodations. Please refer to your Booking #226261777. We look forward to hearing from you soon.

Sincerely,

Angel Davis
Hotel Partner Support

As the price was special what are the chances or a refund or changing over to another Hilton in Copley Square?

Thanks

Marki:idea::):confused:

Given them a call and then report back on the options, depending on the conditions at the time of the sale the agent has offered to treat and is obligated to make good the contract, depending on where the transaction is deemed to have taken place and the applicable contract laws. I would imagine the options are to provide similar accommodation at same price, or at a similar price, anything else could be considered bait and switch IMHO.

You tell them you are contacting your lawyer and his lawyers lawyer and the attorney general or eqivalent.

Your cough will be in their bed on the night you paid for!

That's a little concerning. When are you slated to stay there? I have a reservation at that hotel in a little over a week (and if it's cancelled, it's going to be a problem for me).

I've heard of hotels doing this, and they have every right to. They usually put you into another property of equal quality at their expense.

Rooms in BOS this time of year are stupidly expensive too. The Langham was the cheapest downtown after the Hilton, and that was around $230USD/night, ex taxes :o

Actually, I just checked my Hhonors account and got this for my booking:

Reservation Error

Please contact our Internet Reservations Hot Line for further assistance with your reservation request at 1-800-774-1500. You can also email us, or try again later.

All my other Hilton bookings are coming up fine. I wonder if I should stress now (I'm not in AU now and am heading to LAX tomorrow hrm).

I also tried a dummy booking for when I'm there and it said 'sorry no rooms available' effectively. It's still listed as confirmed and i've not heard otherwise. I hope it's all ok.

interesting that you drewbles too had an error in a booking. My booking is at end October and beginning November. The number quoted is unavailable fromm Oz. +800 prefix?
I replied with an email instead. Will see the response.

Before calling in the lawyers, I suggest its worth checking the terms and conditions to which you agreed when making the original booking request.

I called up HHonors and asked about it. They confirmed I was all good to go and to ignore the error.

Around 24 hours later I got an email reminder of my upcoming stay (I'm there from next Monday).

If they don't take me i'm not sure what will happen as hotels in BOS are scarce at the moment (peak time of the year with Parents all hitting town to check out University and apparently it's a nice time of the year weather wise).

I would certainly take a copy of the email with me though.

Thats good advice for any hotel stay, electronic reservation systems have a habit of changing bookings some times, rarely to the benefit of the traveller.

I would have a copy of the original email confirmation as well.

Evernote?

I simply print such to a .pdf (using cutepdf writer) and file these onto an USB key drive.

Update:
I checked in no problems. From what I hear, there is a massive convention about to roll into town (this week and next) with some 3000-5000 people expected to be in for it. Most hotels in town are overflowing, so it's likely a group may have ousted you, that is if you're visiting during this period.

(and it's quite a nice hotel, but nothing fancy, the one bedroom suites are enormous!)
