Hi all,

I'm looking at booking some flights for my son and his girlfriend to visit us in Perth over Christmas/new year. They're very restricted on the dates they can fly - basically out on the 18th Dec, back on the 3rd Jan. As you'd expect over Christmas the flights (in Y) are looking fairly expensive. My question is - would you expect that the prices will just keep on going up as inventory is sold or are we likely to see any sales/price drops for this route at this time of the year. Any experience/thoughts gratefully received. Thanks

I don't suspect it's going to get any cheaper. What usually happens is that flights start to fill up on earlier dates... everyone wants to come home for Christmas so once the cheap fares sell out on the 18th, people will book for the 17th, then 16th (etc). As those dates fill up, people will go back to the higher fares on their preferred dates (18th etc).
