Well as luck would have it my dates in Ireland did not work out and i was really hoping for Slane castle as the venue andway but i have some time in London from 29/6-1/7 and was wondering what to do... well i think i found the answer !

U2 in Spain :)
LHR-BCN is cheap, Accomodation is possible, Concert tickets are available !

Anybody else going to U2 this year ?

Unfortunately no - I will not be seeing U2 this year. I hope that you enjoy Barcelona and U2. Some great restaurants in Plaza Real. Who are you flying with from LHR to BCN?

Not sure will probably book tomorrow but probably just BA in whY, IB is also available but i think BA is the better bet.

It will be my first time to Barcelona so will be very interesting for me. Was either that or hang around London or find something else i was actually thinking a quick trip to Prague or somewhere but this also works well :)

U2 concert does sound cool. And Barcelona is a nice city. Hmmm. Plus I need to quickly find a reason to get myself enrolled on their IRIS fast-track system ( UK Border Agency | Can I register for IRIS? )

Somehow I think instead I'll be pounding down the doors of recruitment agencies and/or looking for a 'real' place to live.

Would be good. If i was already in LON then maybe...but a tad impractical at this stage to get to LON! ;)

BCN is a great place to visit, and I imagine U2 would be teriffic to see, so go ahead and enjoy!

Barcelona is great. Only nuisance is pickpockets. Keep your hand on your wallet at all times and lock valuables in hotel safe. Strol the Ramblas and wander the Barri Gotic. Use the metro - there is a multiple trip option available. Some great restaurants along the artificial beach accessed from Citadella Vila Olimpica metro station iirc. Use the metro to travel to Para-lel station and take the tram to its end and then the chairlift to Montjuic. Or walk to the marina at La Barceloneta and take the funicular to Montjuic. The Spanish Village on Montjuic is worth seeing. I hope you have a great time.
