Hi everyone, I've recently using my QFF points redeemed a J award tickets HKG - BKK. The first leg will depart HKG at 3.50pm.
I will be at WUH (city of mainland of China) that morning, and the only flight from WUH - HKG is under KA, and the flight will depart at 11.40am and arrive at 1.40pm.
I understand that if nothing goes wrong, there should be no problem for me to catch the second flight to BKK.
However, if there is any sort of delay, what's the risk here?

1) The two flights are on different tickets but KA & CX are sort of the same airline, so what's the likelihood I will be able to get my BP at WUH or at least I can get my baggage checked through to BKK?

2) If, for any reason, my first flight is delayed, can I request CX to move me to the next available flight? or I need to call QFF to sort out the booking change? How much change fee possibly involved?

I need to take the risk and cost into consideration and make a decision whether to spend the prior night in HKG or not.

Thanks in advance.

Your bags can be through checked, and the connecting time should be long enough. You will get both boarding passes in WUH. The last five days of operation from flightaware have shown the arrival time of KA853 anywhere from 1322 to 1416 (one day out of 5).

If it was separate tickets normally I wouldn't allow as little as two hours for a connecting flight where it involves travel from China given delays are common and can be extensive (1-2 hours is fairly normal).

Thanks MEL_Traveller, it's not looking too bad from history. I guess probably will take the risk.
