Hi all

Just looking at potential bookings for a colleague from here to the US as part of a potential DONE4 at the end of May (I know it's late to book that - don't blame me, I have been nagging her for months to lock this in).

To get a rough idea of options I picked some random dates in early June for OW availability SYD-LAX direct. The one odd thing I saw was the two class 744 SYD-LAX QF11. I didn't know that QF flew two class on a 744 SYD-LAX.

The seat map looked a little odd as well:

Rows 1-4 J
Rows 11-18 J Upper deck
Rows 23-24 J Lower deck

Doesnt seem like a lot of J seats.

My concern is if I book one of these I don't want her ending up on a 743 or some other crummy seat as I will never hear the end of it...

Maybe a Kangaroo route being sold as two class.

I'll check this ...

  • Certainly NOT a 743 ...
  • No WHY seat maps whowing for QF11
  • The return QF12 is showing a why seat map
  • Maybe a refurbished version of the two class - and they have squeezed a couple more SkyBeds into Zone A giving 58 J seats,
Zone A:
Code:
   A B E F J K
 1 O O O O
 2 X X X X
 3 O O O O X X
 4 X X X X O O

Thats the 2 class layout for the Singapore - Frankfurt planes. They have skybeds.

I thought that it might be - I didnt like the front section on that aircraft seemed a little cramped.

Thanks

Seem to be the case, looking 1st week in June and QF5 has this config..

Hmm - qantas.com does not currently have a 58J seat map listed.

Looking around further ir seems most of the 2 class 744 have had these additional 2 seats inserted.

A 56J config is taking QF25 on 10th May (3 Class 744 on 9th), but the 12th has a 58J seater.
