Anyone watched the current Dr Who ?
Just subscribed to Britbox and so many Dr Who episodes there
Not really fussed about the storylines I have to watched so far of the new Dr.
Does it improve ?
I thought Jodie Whittaker did ok as the Doctor, but the writing for the story lines was a bit over the place. The writers seemed to be pushing a broader theme rather than focussing on the characters. But, it does get better. Mind you, it took me a while to get into Matt Smith as the Doctor, but then I was won over

The Expanse is back. NEW season with 3 episodes dropped today.

And I am a most happy chappy :)
Fantastic, I've been hanging out for either the new season or new books.

But now MrsK is discovering a massive down side to me not travelling as much. Where in the past I would download The Expanse, Star Trek Discovery (new season is out now), Piccard, <insert name of SciFi series here>, and watch them on the flights. Now I sit at home atnd watch them, and we've had some challenging moments around "... why are you watching that stuff?" type conversations.

LOL

The Expanse is a show I need to try watching again, it seems to require a lot more concentration than your average sci-fi, and I tend to multi task when watching tv, so it doesnt always have my full attention. I watched about 3 episodes ages ago and would need to start over.

Over Xmas break I plan to finally tackle latest seasons of Discovery and Mandalorian - I was wating till there were a decent number of episodes available to do a decent binge sessions.

Ive been re-watching The West Wing, as when it originally aired I only watched it sporadically. Such a stellar cast, I always loved John Spencer as Tommy Mullaney in L..A Law, just something about him, remeber being really sad when he dies unexpectedtly.

The other show Im enjoying at the moment is season 2 of Race Across the World, currently on 9 on Thursday. Its a travel challenge with a difference, teams of two are given the value of 2 full priced / flex economy airfares from starting point to destination, and must use that budget to travel by land only (bus, train, boat) via 5 mandtory checkpints to the same destination.

Season 1 was Greenwich/London to Sinagpore, this season is Mexico City to Ushuia, Argentina, First episode of season two every city the teams tranisted through I had been to. You see some interesting routing choices, Id love to try this one, espeically this season. Check it out on catch up if you can.

Watched three episodes. Still have no idea what the plot is supposed to be!

It is worth sticking with.

The Expanse is based upon a 8 book series with a ninth book to land in 2021. Each book is six hundred odd pages.

It is a continuing story, and is not a plot a season show like some series. Leta alone a plot an episode show!

So yes after only three episodes they have hardly scratched the surface and you have many characters and plot sub-plots to come.

The drawback of having such a long and involved story is that it takes a while to set up. The plus is the great richness that results.

And yes you might see an element of a storyline that seems minor early on, but then becomes important few seasons later.

Thanks. Yes I know and have been following the series since the start. One of the best on TV specially for the writing etc. Just this series is taking a while to find its feet!

I have just watched the first of three new Vicar of Dibley episodes.

A lovely tribute to "Alice", aka Emma Chambers.

Is that the lockdown one? Mainly a rehash of old stuff right? Haven't got around to watching it.....

For those who like the show Not Going Out, they had a good NY special on. So that's worth watching, available via the BBC iPlayer.

Just watched Death to 2020 on netflix, Hugh Grant as I've never seen him before. Bound to upset a few people on here, but of course ymmv. :)
