From news.com.au:

TWENTY-one people on an overnight flight from Miami to Sao Paulo have been hurt, some of them badly, when their Airbus plane was thrown around by turbulence.

Nine of the injured were taken to hospital for treatment and three remained there for further care, the company TAM said in a statement.

I note thaqt passenger (and self-appointed weather radar expert) Marilda Torres, 56 is going to sue TAM because "it should have detected the turbulence on the radar". No wonder QF makes it a requirement to belt up while seated.

And TAM's response will be to leave the seatbelt sign on for the entire flight just in case there is turbulence and someone sues

Somehow I feel Ms Torres will be wasting her money.

We keep reading these stories and some peole will never learn. The first thing you do upon returning to your seat is buckle your seat belt. That is not too hard to remember and it is irrelevant whether the seat belt sign is on or not....
