I have it on good authority that the TSA have said the pre-check is under utilised, and as such they are 'randomly' opening it to others, but have not specified the criteria for those people.

At EWR mrsdrron got the pre check and I didn't the initial agent checking BPs gave me a piece of orange cardboard-that got me pre check status.

The 4 of us got nothing on the BP flying AC DCA-YYZ the other day. We're doing AA YUL-MIA tomorrow so we'll see what pops up.

The kids got it again.......I think it's a 12 and under thing. We didn't get it however, once again SWMBO got processed as an Emerald even though she is only SG.

Oh, and the four of us got upgraded to F :D:cool::mrgreen: I'm thinking the system seeing two OWE got us over the line.

Just checked in for our MIA-DFW flight and the kids got it again and we missed out......that's 1/4 for the parents with Emerald status.

Once again SWMBO has been tagged as an Emerald so that's 4/4 for her.

OT the lounge in MIA is large and disappointing......it does have a nice view of the birds at the gate. Apparently there is a Flagship lounge here however, it's a share lounge and outside of the OW rules.

MIA no longer has a FL. It's a OW share lounge now, and is not really all that great (It's definitely not a flagship lounge anymore).

Which MIA lounge? There are two AC's there :)

The one near gate 30......station three on the monorail.

Ok next flight today JFK - DFW got the TSA Pre today - very nice to not have to take off shoes and belt - laptop stayed in bag and the whole process took about 90 seconds. So now 2 out of 3 with pre check
And DFW - SEA tomorrow no magic tick. I seem to be alternating ...

See if this works. First of a few. The article from the Hawaiian Airlines in-flight magazine.

Couple more to come. I have a hard copy for RooFlyer who I think wanted one. Of course I have to get it back to Oz first.

So it's case by case, risk based and random.

Hope all that helps folks.

And here's what you look for

If any mods are able to rotate this (this poor old man cannot) please feel free v

Four flights. One tick. Yep: random, black box.
And a few minutes of contemplation should reveal some reasons why they cannot guarantee these for every flight.

I posted that somewhere else, but this thread is more appropriate.

I received an email from AA today saying that people who are not enrolled in Global Entry or TSApre will see a reduction in their "random" access to the TSApre lane at security.

"This month, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is making changes to the TSA Pre✓®Trusted Traveler Program that will impact which travelers receive expedited screening. If you're not already a member of one of the Trusted Traveler programs like Global Entry or the TSA Pre✓®Application Program, you will probably see a decline in how often you receive expedited screening, even if you've previously "opted-in" through a frequent flyer*program.*

The best way to increase your chances of receiving TSA Pre✓®*on a regular basis is to register for a Trusted Traveler Program with the Department of Homeland Security at*dhs.gov/tt. Once you receive your Known Traveler Number (KTN) from TSA, be sure you update your AAdvantage*profile.*"

Well, sod it! I've been batting 100% TSA pre-check for last 8 flights in 3 separate trips and had kinda got used to it.

I've just got my first ever that I have noticed on my SW BP, from LAS to PDX tomorrow. I don't remember getting any when I was Plat, but I have no status anyway on SW.

This trip-2 flights on AA-no pre check.
2 flights on US-pre check.
Mrsdrron WP me AA LTP.
