Hey guys,

Recently managed to snag some good value business class reward seats from Melb to Istanbul in jul 2024 for only 99,000 Krisflyer miles. I'm looking to book a return trip back and the cheapest i can find is 132,000 krisflyer miles from Brussells which we will be travelling from on the way back in August 4th. I tried to have a look with Qatar but found limited availabilty and the seat i did find was 180,000 avios points. Or even happy to fly with etihad through velocity. Does anyone have any recommendaitons or did i find a good deal on the 132,000 point deal with SQ. It is an A350 for context. thanks in advance.

That's certainly a "sweet spot" in the SQ award chart (it used to be even 'sweeter' before a devaluation that happened a while back). 99,000 KF for East Coast Australia to/from IST (basically East Europe) is a steal. Well done on snagging that!

You mean 130,500 KF? As shown below?

As long as it's a Saver redemption and it suits your travel schedule then it's good value. I couldn't find anything on Aug 4 so here's Aug 5th's availability.

Good luck, let us know how you go :)

Value at the moment to EU is SQ to BRU - J fares $6600 on some dates mid 2024.

Can’t help with miles but not surprised BRU is the best option there. Assume they are trying to fill a new flight.

Good option for Paris - only ~2hrs by train (some as short as 1h30m).

Nice score with the 99,000 Krisflyer miles from Melb to Istanbul! Last year, I was trying to get from Sydney to Barcelona and was seeing prices north of 150,000 Krisflyer miles. I was lucky that my agent, Anna Goldberg, from travelbusinessclass, managed to get me a deal for just 110,000 miles on a comfy Boeing 777. A good agent can make a big difference.

Considering your Brussels option, 132,000 seems reasonable, especially considering other alternatives you've mentioned. But, it is always worth checking with experts before making a final call. - that's my rule.

Is this on SQ? AFAIK an agent can't really help with mileage redemptions, they wouldn't have access to special stock/inventory of it.
How was this done? There's got to be more to the story...

Nice work! I'm doing SYD-IST in J for 99K as well, departing late July. I didn't have sufficient to get back, so booked Oman Air J from MXP-MCT-KUL-SYD (final leg with MAS). $3,200. Sure, probably not as good as SQ but I thought the price was reasonable for one-way. I'm going to try to get into Muscat for the day too as it's a long layover.
