I do recall reading over on Whingepool that the Brisbane counter is hard to find and not always staffed.
I shall have a look around. I may take a photo of the golf bag if client services counter not staffed.

For anyone interested the TRS client services counter in BNE is on level 1 near entrance from car park. It was staffed at 10:00pm.
 
Quick question - I made an online purchase from ebay Bing Lee - the Invoice Total with "TAX INVOICE" on it says $349 and has the GST amount - however I applied a coupon code to get the price I paid down to $284. Am I eligible still since the invoice is for $349 even though I only paid $284?

It's irrelevant how you paid or what discounts/coupons you received. TRS is assessed on GST paid on invoice total.

Are there any updates to online TRS claims? Does one still need to have goods inspected?

Yes. At least as of July. They not only inspected the mobile phone but wanted to record the IMSI (unique identified).

I can't see them ever not wanting to inspect items. Can you imagine the amount of fraud otherwise?

Agreed but what worries me is the BNE TRS office will be closed by the time I get there in 2 weeks.These are expensive golf items that I don't want to miss out claiming.
 
When I left via BNE the desk was unmanned and you just filled in a slip and "posted" it. Still haven't got the refund though, it's only been 3 weeks.
But I think it depends how cough the agent is, most lately haven't cared what I show them.

I presume you're checking in golf clubs and talking about the counter that is pre-checkin for inspection? My experience in Perth in this scenario is there is a phone/bell by the counter than you can ring/call and someone from customs will come out and inspect and stamp your receipt. One time, they were so busy they said not to worry.

I found this out by calling customs at the airport and asking what to do. I'd recommend doing the same as well as giving yourself at least an extra 15 minutes for this.

I have ~4 hours between flights but take note my flight departs ~2:30am. The Customs office has been known to close early in the past.

The thing is, there are ALWAYS going to be customs staff at an international airport. I still think your best bet is calling customs at the airport and getting advice directly from them on how best to proceed.

I have not heard anything for 3 weeks. Claim does not appear to have been processed. Refund has not been processed.

Should it take this long?
 
Had same at BNE on Aug 20ish.
Paid out Oct 10th ish. So give it 8+ weeks.

Oh wow, that long? Seems like an awfully long time for something that would normally take 5 minutes to process. :confused:
 
Yeah, tell me about it. Though the sheer number of Chinese who were claiming at the same time may have something to do with it.
Comes through as "Global Blue"
 
This is not good news. I have an 06.30 flight on Sat and should be at the TRS desk about 04.30.

It will probably not be open.
 
That's ok. If they have the drop boxes you just claim that way and get it eventually.
