Troubles in Noumea

Good luck

No communication isn't great.
It seems fairly poor that they only got 108 out on two aircraft on Tuesday (that can reportedly take a lot more)
And however many seats on today's French flight (the Kiwis had 50, assume Aus had same or more)

And crazy a single arrival blocks all flights.
Today's flight was apparently evenly spread between Australia, NZ, Japan and the US (about 50 each).

Received a call from DFAT earlier this evening, confirming our hotel location, and that we still wanted to leave, kthxbye.

The summary of the rumour mill is that the French want to take care of everything... in their own sweet time. While making it difficult for others. Who knows?

This mornings reports are that the vote leading to the riots will be delayed:

Short term this should clear things up but delaying it just seems like they're kicking the can down the road meaning if it does calm down now it could flare up again in the future.

Difference is next time it comes into force will be after the Paris Olympics and all of the GIGN will be on hand. Call it a “goodwill” visit.
