trolley case recommendations?

Thanks for the extra info. In a busy month I can do more than 20 flights in one month.

Given the amount of travel I do, a friend convinced me I should only get something with lifetime warranty - and of course this needs to include NZ (or at least Australia).

Ones I know of with lifetime warranty are

Tumi
Victorinox (thanks to browski)

Any others?

Can't go wrong with Tumi, but it does not meet the OP's request for reasonable price. But for you, the cost is less relevant than the durability.

If you live in Sydney then Flemington markets vendors have some very good name brands and no name brands for sale, very good quality, competitive prices.

I think Samsonite's Ultralite ones are lighter. I saw a mag ad featuring Richard Branson for a new Samsonite range. Can't remember the name.

Sir Richard is flogging the Samsonite PRO-DLX collection. By the way his fee for the advertisment has gone to charity.

Reason enough to avoid it.....

Following a recommendation from an American friend who does a lot of travel, I've bought a LL Bean rolling duffle in bright yellow.

Yellow so I can pick it out on the carousel. Nice sturdy wheels, bottom, handle and zips. Compression straps on the outside so I can shrink it down, but it's roomy enough (and sturdy enough) for tonnes of kit, especially if I'm not flying.

I have a large Tumi wheeled duffle bought on sale in the USA. Great. Regular retail is insane though especially at the Sydney store. Victorinox is excellent, 5 years without a problem and many years of life left but you really want Mobilizer NXT range not Werks range, they also do a good wheeled duffel. Tumi quality at half the price. If thats too much then yes to Samsonite pro-dlx despite the endorsement of the Cheshire cat. Bought 2 in London last year when severely overloaded with shopping and its a topnotch lightweight wheeled soft case. My sister in law bought three new "cheapies" for her family trip to Europe last year, 2 came back broken, 1 broke on the next trip. You usually get what you pay for:!:

Depends. Sometimes you get good value for money. I bought a no name brand cheapie 3 years ago ($35 at Sydney Flemington markets) and it has had 13 trips overseas and still going strong. Also when I was in Thailand 3 years ago I bought a smaller no name brand cheapie for a 3 day trip to coughet (equivalent to $25 at Sydney Flemington markets) and it has had 11 trips domestic including trip to coughet and still going strong apart from minor repair that QF fixed 4 months ago.

I think I am just about due for 2 more cheapies by now. Flemington markets again. If I spend $80 this time instead of $60 and they last me 3 years then I have done very well.
