Earn triple Velocity Points on all eligible Virgin Australia domestic flights when you activate and then book by 1 December 2020 and travel by 19 October 2021:

Good offer, but I think it's quite telling that nobody here seems interested in booking Virgin flights at the moment even with triple points! ;)

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I have booked 3 flights in the past couple of days but not because of the triple points. I have so many unusable international future flight credits that I have to use domestically that I have to basically take a flight every month. It is costing me way more in accommodation though. Added that with uncertainty of state border closures at the drop of a hat, not really wanting to book too far ahead either. I would be happier with a few lounges opening and actually getting some value out of my membership.

They could offer my 10x points and I still wouldn’t fly with them currently. Already had to book a couple more flights with QF for the coming weeks due to the lounge situation and with a busy Christmas travel period planned if I can’t get a definitive answer on when lounges will open I’ll have to book those with QF also

I booked J PER/MEL trip for next Feb 2022 just 3 days ago on Friday. Missed this Triple point offer by that much.

Called up to see if any chance to change (as outside VA free change policy of until 31st Jan 2022) they kindly waived the cancel fee, full refund in Standard Travel Bank & I rebooked exact same flight now with Triple Points (same cost), very happy, few extra points now, on J worth the call as enough for short reward flight.

Great flexibility outside standard policy. I'd call that above standard service. Note; I'm only Gold status.

Thanks VA.

Thanks VA
Velocity earn for Revenue transcontinental in business is generally significant, so this would represent a relatively dramatic increase in points.

I considered do similar for the flexi.bookongs I.made last week which have been sent to business class with WP upgrades.

11k points difference it would be ... but I have decided not worth the effort.

Thanks to current booking and fare policies, was able to cxl an existing J flight DRW-MEL via BNE for August, use the travel bank credit and one of the promo codes for an even cheaper Business Saver fare compared to when I originally booked a few weeks ago. Result will be an extra 7000 points. Not shabby at all.

Don't Velocity have to pay Virgin for points to pas onto pax J travellers? Just as Banks, credit cards, retailers have to pay Velocity for velocity points?
So as I called Velocity Gold Team, by them cancelling my fare & me being able to rebook with the Triple Points offer, aren't Velocity the company (being separate from Virgin) technically losing out as now they have to pay more for the points for my flight.
I understand they're in bed together as Velocity is owned by Virgin now 100%. right?

I remember during the VolAdmin times last year that Virgin actually borrowed $100M from velocity (at a prior time) so the more points velocity buy from virgin the quicker that debt can be repaid, via points not cash.

VA flattened many of their debts at that time, but the Velocity debt had to remain for obvious reasons.
Hence I think now 3 or 4 Triple Point offers since last DSC offer as the point offers reduced Virgin debt to Velocity & maybe more enticing for the non-status Virgin flyers. As points means free reward flights in the future.
Sorry if that's a little confusing & irrelevant, just thinking why velocity would allow me to cancel & rebook, it's really only advantaging me, apart from goodwill to a loyal status customer. only Gold at that.

Am I correct in my thinking? Happy to be corrected. Or banished to another thread, ha!

I too have registered, but it's only a "...just in case I do book for work..." scenario.

I think it's the other way around.

When someone flies on a cash fare Virgin pays Velocity for the points.

When someone redeems the points on Velocity, they have to pay Virgin for the seat.

Yes, they are separate companies but both owned by the same parent however somewhere a swap of cash for the points would be going on. Unlike Qantas, the value of all Velocity points is stored in a separate bank account that VA (or during administration, the administrator) couldn't touch. What's not clear is during triple points promos, who picks up the cost for the extra points but my guess is that it could be split.

A Frenzy sale has launched with travel into 2022 if anyone is interested, lines up with this promo
