Triple status credits on VA

Got me in for a MEL- OOL trip in to catch-up with a mate I likely would've left to later in the year.
Had to fit it in end of July for use of promo code. Got a flex for $399 (J was ~$700) and a J on return for $380. The oddity of it.

Will watch that flex flight if reward seats becomes available to use WP free upgrade benefit.

VA Gold until Mar2025. Wondering if I should take up this offer.

The SC tally on my VA profile reads 9 status credits.

If I take up this now and fly 991SC, I will become Platinum. Will I be Platinum, until when, is the question I'm unable to answer ...
You will have until your "Review Date" (which should be 365 days) to requalify WP.

e.g. If you qualify WP on July 31st 2024, then you will have WP until you hit your "Review Date"- which would be either July 31 or August 1 2025. I am not precisely sure.

If you do not requalify, then after your "review" ends, you would soft land to SG.

Platinum member here. I had decided to just drop to gold rather than chasing Platinum for another year, but triple SCs was too good an offer to ignore.
Me too… had decided to let platinum lapse next year. Was tempted by this but not sure the benefits are there.

I value the ‘fly forward’ by telephone for platinums, but the other airline options for MEL-SYD now outweigh VA :(

I have an existing J booking HBA-OOL return, but didn't cancel and rebook as Matt is having a dinner in Adelaide. HBA-MEL-ADL-MEL-HBA 660scs I believe for about $1,100 after some travel bank credit.

With the existing boking, that's Plat sorted again. 👍

This is pretty good offer I don't want to miss - what's the best & cheapest status run from Melbourne as I need to maintain my Platinum

Just recently qualified for Platinum - would be good head start to my retention requirements. Too bad I would be away for half of July and have already booked in my June trips, otherwise would have much more to gain lol.

It'll be 12 months from the date you become Platinum (which will then be your new review date instead of March 2025).

As usual I didn't get the promotional email from Virgin. I've been flying with them for so many years but some time during Covid they stopped sending V-mails etc and I haven't got one since despite changing my preferences online several times to trigger them and also reporting it when on the phone with VA. They assured me over the phone months ago my preferences showed I would receive these emails but none have arrived. This just reminded me how I keep missing out. I need to change my email maybe.
Anyway I have a couple of trips SYD-TSV potentially in this window. Just had a look at J and the cheapest is $901 one way which gets a bit exy as I can get "Choice" Y returns for $478. I also have to go to BNE so might just fly to OOL instead if I can grab a J fare.
I'm well on track to requalify for SG before this but I have chance to get to WP if I can make the most of this.

Another WP who only just dropped to SG in the last few weeks. I had a couple of Y trips in VA since and have missed the Economy X and Fly Ahead via telephone perks. Cancelled my Y trip later this week and re-booked in J... will re-gain WP because of it.

Something must be up though... first they do a status match last week and now an unprecedented 3x status this week. Commercially important/high value pax dropping away (along with the associated revenue)...?

I am currently Platinum with review date of Nov & got baby due in Sep
My question is that would I get status hold until next year as I have already taken status hold last year also should I take this offer to retain platinum - thanks in advance

Me three. Exactly the same position, prepared for the soft landing to Gold, but cleverly enticed by VA to retain Platinum for another year. In our case cancelling an existing booking and rebooking in J.

How is VA's IT when it comes to flexible flights?
