Triple status credits on VA

Interesting, I cancelled an existing J booking and when trying to rebook the exact same flight I get an error that a duplicate exists and it won't let me proceed.

Must take some time for the system to process the cancellation of the existing booking. Not a big deal for me as there was another flight at a comparable (maybe even slightly better) time but one to watch out for if you're looking do something similar!

I did wonder earlier in the year when the previous status credit promo showed up if perhaps this was a move towards having several status credits promos during the year, but with a shorter travel period. Rather than the previous way of just having one promo, but with a travel period covering nearly the whole year. Seems like that's what happening.

Also seems like they're trying out various different types of promos, the first one was based on the number of flights taken, this is triple instead of double but has a very short booking window. I'll be curious to see what the next one looks like.

This generally takes a day to clear up so you need to call and tell them you’re getting that error if in a hurry.

Another question, what generally happens if the bonus credits don’t credit until after review date? Do they still honour it given the flight was taken before hand? Considering trying to requalify for gold but worse case if review date lapses and bonus credits haven’t come through then I can aim to get gold again from whatever the requirement is from moving up from silver. Have a few flights planned for later in the year with Singapore airlines so that would help.

The bonus credits should still apply to the date they were earned and a retrospective adjustment made. This may or may not be useful depending on how your expiring credits are set up

VA Gold until Mar2025. Wondering if I should take up this offer.

The SC tally on my VA profile reads 9 status credits.

If I take up this now and fly 991SC, I will become Platinum. Will I be Platinum, until when, is the question I'm unable to answer ...

My review date was last week and I'd just renewed Velocity Platinum until May 2025. I was going to just let that lapse next year, but this offer was too good.

I just booked CBR-MEL-ADL return in J for under $900 (using a promo code) and will earn 660 status credits for that. That will be enough with other planned travel to renew Platinum again next year, and if I don't renew it again in the following year I'll still be at least Gold until May 2027.

If anyone from Virgin is reading this, well done - you've just got almost $900 in revenue from me that you wouldn't have otherwise!

EDIT: Initially provided wrong advice based on renewing. When I upgraded to WP, I got exactly 12months as the membership date resets (but only on the initial qualify - when you go to renew the membership date will be the same).

End of FY Revenue pump! I note travel is for June and July.

Numbers must be below budget if they have pulled this offer. Might push them over the line.
July is the next financial year and any revenue for July would be account for differently.

It's no unusual for offers / specials around this time of year. With a lot of commentary around potential softening of airfares, to me this doesn't seem like any soft of a revenue pump.

This is a great offer that I’d love to take up, but I just don’t fly in VA economy enough to make seeking WP worthwhile. (I pretty much only value the free Economy X benefit, the flex fare upgrades only save a few points compared to any other point upgrade). I’ll drop down to SG next year and take my few VA flights in Business.

This came at a perfect time, trying to get back to Gold and had a trip to Melbourne with my wife (who I pool family SC's on) that we were planning on booking later this week. Doing it today now :)
Thanks VA, I won't hit Gold from this trip but alot closer

How does this offer work for family pooling? I've activated but through the email that was sent to me as a Platinum. My wife is Red and hasn't received an email (yet). Does she have to activate somehow before getting triple SC's for both of us? The offer isn't up on the VA website

It's up on the Velocity website. Your wife should log in and then activate the offer, and then book.

Thanks the page was stuck on the 72hr Sunshine Coast sale when I first looked.
