Re: Planely - who is using it - how are you finding it?

Sadly for some reason Tripit can not recognise the itinerary emails I get from BT Concierge :(

I could add the manually but that would be pointless.

I use the myflights app to track my flight status etc - but that only works with some airlines.

You can also add in flights manually to myflights. Not the best solution but at least it can be done.

Re: Planely - who is using it - how are you finding it?

yeah - I have considered that - just I like the push notifications of changes. I would love an app that could take my info from any carrier (really only needs to be QF and CX) and populate the info.

If you can get the info into TripIt, FlightTrack Pro will track flight info and push notify of any changes (eg: delays, gate changes at supported airports, etc).

I haven't used it with CX, but I know it works with QF, DJ, JQ, AA and FJ.

But yes, my whole travel world revolves around TripIt because it takes just about any booking confirmation I throw at it. If a travel app doesn't link with it, then I generally don't use it (which is why I took to Planely because it wasn't any extra effort).

Re: Planely - who is using it - how are you finding it?

My itineraries dont work with TripIt for some reason :(

Re: Planely - who is using it - how are you finding it?

I had to manually put all my flights into Tripit (which was suggested after I booked two weekends away on the same week) and am loving it- the integration with Planely is cool. I have since linked up with another AFFer and we are meeting while we are transiting - super cool! I think Planely has a solid base from which to build and improve.

You can email tripit you itinerary directly from the QF manage my booking page - I do it for all my flights. Also forwarding the e ticket works too. saves entering it all in manually. I know it also works with JQ tickets too.

I'm pretty new to all of this stuff, but I have been using Pageonce TripTracker on my iPhone. It "automagically" (yes that is the phrase they use) imports flight info from your FF account. My flights are pretty much always QF or BA so I only have my QF account details in trip tracker. I noticed that CX is one of the airlines listed though. :)

I also have my Avis and ICH accounts included. It seems to work pretty well.

I'm a little hesitant about Planely. (I don't tend to like people at the best of times so the privacy issue is something that concerns me.) :-|

It seems like a nice idea if you do like people though! :)

Great tip Nick - seems now to be working. In fact I had added my CX itinerary by forwarding my booking for the CX flight.

So now Tripit has my upcoming three trips- planely is current only showing my trip this week which is domestic...

Just as an update and this is a tad bizarre - TripIt can handle my CX itinerary but flighttrack pro wont import the info from TripIt...

Also interesting that Flighttrack pro doesnt hold my seating information like yours did.

Tripit gate information

I got an update on Sunday at SYD for gate information. As far as I can recall, that is the first time I have ever received gate info for a flight in Australia. Great work, except that it was the wrong gate. The Tripit info said gate 7, the boards said gate 4.

Does anyone know if the gate info is a feature now available as aussie airports, or was is a glitch?

I've been getting it for Mel gates for a few months. They have been right everytime too.

I've always gotten them out of OOL.

I always get them just as a get onto the Tugan Bypass, like clockwork!

Re: Tripit gate information

Nothing here for me - no sms notification anyway. I did get the delayed notification though :(

Does anyone get seat allocations through tripit?

Are you on the premium service?

I know nothing about seat allocation..

Re: Tripit gate information

TripIt Pro was the best investment. So much value for $50 IMO.

Never had wrong info given, IIRC.

Tripit pro is awesome. I'm on a 6month free trial, but will happily pay for it.

I am but see no sign of seat information which is really useful.

Also - does anyone know if TripIt should update my itinerary if there is a major change. I recently changed flights on a trip and had to resend the itinerary to TripIt ...

I have never had it update a changed flight, but changing the flight number (and date, if necessary) manually will automatically populate the other details.

I am sure I didn't get gate details at ADL SYD or BNE in July, but had not flown since then until the weekend. Still didn't get gate details in ADL, and the SYD ones were wrong. It doesn't include seat details unless they are included in your booking documents. I usually enter them manually, if I remember.

I love Tripit. I find it so useful being able to have the details on my phone rather than pulling out a piece of paper every five seconds to check, double-check and triple check etc. I also like the 24hr checkin reminder SMS which lets me bag the good seats.

Re: Tripit gate information

I was using My flights but that didnt work with CX - TripIt seems to work well now that I can get all itineraries/hotel bookings into it and I have trained my PA to email tripit with itineraries. Also wife has access to it so she has details of all flights and hotels now :)

Re: Tripit gate information

Totally OT so please indulge me.

How does Tripit Pro compare to WorldMateGold :?:
