Hi, a newbie from New Zealand here ....

I'm trying to go to London from Auckland (direct) on Sept 22, returning to NZ by Oct 22. I thought I'd fly pack from Paris and stop off in Singapore or Malaysia for a week at Club Med. I actually wanted to go to Tokyo but that seems impossible (unless I pay $53k)(me, wife and 5 y.o. flying business y'see).

Anyway, I kinda found something on Travelocity with Malaysian Airlines which as I was clicking thru was averaging 8k a sector (some sectors were 1st class cos no business seats available) but when I got to the final page I was told "congratulations we've found you even bigger savings" and the total for the three of us was $16k (for all flights!)

This seems fantastic but ... can I be sure these are business seats and the savings haven't been acheived by putting me in economy? There's nothing on the final page that describes the seat, just the total price, and the next step is to enter my credit card details for this special non-refundable fare. My only previous experience with Travelocity was for a 'cheap' return flight from San Fransico to Las Vegas which was the trip from hell. (Vegas is a one hour flight but we took six hours each way cos we got rerouted to LAX due to 'weather problems' and 'mechanical problems')(funny how exactly the same thing happened on the way back too)

And BTW ~ I've only just found out we're going at exactly the same time (and to the same places) as the Rugby World Cup -- of which we have no interest in!!

OH YES - how do you rate the Business Lounges for Malaysian Air. Qantas (we're QFF) are magnificent and a key factor when travelling with a 5y.o. (a sweetheart traveller)

Oh Lawdy! Is that $16,ooo Travelocity are quoting me in US dollars?!

Maybe not a bargain afterall ...

Why don't you use zuji.co.nz instead of travelocity? You can see exactly what classes you get for each flight, price in NZ$, etc.

MH lounge at KUL is great. MH uses NZ lounge at AKL.

thanks Kiwi .... I tried Zuij but at present (despite being owned by Travelocity) they don't have the capacity to do multi-destination trips. Their FAQ says to book a return flight, click 'pay by phone', and then call the operator and get them to change your stopovers.

Has anyone tried this with Zuji? I'm fearful that the trip will end up costing a lot more.

It might cost more or less, depending on availability in the relevant booking classes on the flights with or without stopover.
