I found out recently that my nephews have never flown. They are in their teens. I'd like to take them on a short haul domestic flight. Do I need written approval from their parents? I have the same surname as them.

I did look at a flight which include BNE to SYD on QF8. That would require a passport, wouldn't it?

You could take them on QF8 without a passport, you just need valid ID (I'm not 100% sure what they would need ID wise, best to check with QF).
Likewise there is no problems traveling with them since as teenagers they would be allowed to fly unaccompanied anyway.

Thanks for that. I wasn't sure what to ask about for my first question.

I just found the answer to my second question in Qantas Documents for Travel page. According to the web site, I'd need to write their full name on the back of my boarding pass and their booking gets linked to mine for ID purposes.
