Travelling with DJ on the 16th April - Outage of sales and checkin systems scheduled

Just in - DJ are upgrading their systems this weekend and it will impact travellers from Saturday until 12 noon Sunday at the latest:

The Virgin Blue Group of Airlines system upgrade. This work is an important part of a program implementing additional functionality to our
systems to provide greater choice and flexibility to Guests experience when making bookings with us.

Please note: Web-check, Kiosks and Sales (all distribution channels) will be unavailable from 18:30 on Saturday
16 April 2011 until the completion of the upgrade.

I am still thinking DJ will go down the road of what Air NZ offers on their Pacific flights

Hmmm.... I have a flight on 17 April at ~6:30pm and earlier commitments mean I won't be able to use web check-in until ~3:00pm. Hope flight is not full....

Velocity bookings are out today - call center says should be back by end of business.

I flew from OOL to SYD yesterday and noted two things:

- They couldn't process a PE taster upgrade so I had to pay full fare for it
- On the ticket just below my name it said "Velocity Gold W". Hadn't noticed that before.

Otherwise all same as usual.

Okay, so I checked my ticket from Friday and it just said Velocity Gold.... maybe this is something to do with status?

I will be looking at my boarding pass this weekend very closely to notice any new changes

I assumed the "W" on my boarding pass meant the booking class, ie Premium Economy.

Well whatever they've done has broken the booking engine on Firefox 4 and Safari ... I can't get past the flight selection page. Way to go guys

Better start using Internet Explorer again


Seriously, like all upgrades before on any airline, it's another wrinkle to be ironed. Considering a large portion of users would use Safari or Firefox, I'd take it that this is something which would be fixed fairly quickly.

Right, so Safari is working again now (Firefox 4 still down for the count), and found something very interesting while hunting around the booking engine. From one of the fare rules that are currently hidden:

        <div id="flyBuysRule" style="display:none">Fly Buys Fare Rules<ul id="flyBuysList">
            <li>This fare is not refundable. FlyBuys points will not be refunded for cancelled bookings</li>

There is also an item in one of the arrays that holds information about Velocity members mentioning FlyBuys:

HandleRewardsProgram(paxnumber, titleId, firstNameId, lastNameId, rewardsFakeDDListId, rewardsFakeTextBoxId, processingIconId, submitButtonId, baggagePrice, [b]isFlyBuysAgent[/b], velocityValidSpanId);

Will be interesting to see the details of this one..

If the idea is to allow you to redeem FlyBuys points online, it is a good one. At present you have to call the FlyBuys contact centre to redeem a FlyBuys award flight.

You have been able to redeem flights from FlyBuys for the past two years now, so no new news here sorry.
And yes working through Firefox 4 issues right now.
