Re: Heads up about program changes

Women don't lie, they just hold back on what they truly think and expect you to be able to read their mind to determine the actual truth. Duh ;)

Exactly. It's a test! If you truly love them you'll do the right thing.

Re: Heads up about program changes

OK, I just assumed that as you had a direct link to a JohnK quote in #2901 & #2902 it related to that.

My mistake, and I apologise.

There's no offence taken but you really should consider lightening up when there is a wink attached to a post.

Yes I failed miserably with that one a long time ago.

I would say something today and she would be all smiles and the world was a happy place and then I would say the same thing the next day and it was like hell was about to freeze over.

P.S. Fiancee was quite happy sitting in middle seat on CNX-BKK flight. The window seat was vacant but she still sat in middle seat. I did offer her the aisle seat but on the proviso that I sit in the opposite aisle but she refused and stayed in middle seat. ;) See how long that lasts.

In my previous relationship, I was told off for choosing a seat that was in the opposite aisle...

And while we're here... what does John's personal life has anything to do with, er, "heads up about program changes"?

Re: Heads up about program changes

The trial run will be getting to/from HKG Do, SIN Do and KUL/SIN lounge crawl next year.

She knows we cannot afford business for both and I need the SCs for status so I may fly business and her in economy. They are only short hauls anyway.

She is starting to understand frequent flyer programs and hotel loyalty programs and has asked me to save QFF points for our RTW trip(s) and to save the IHG points for hotel stays.

I think the lounges will also blow her away. She was quite impressed with the Bangkok Airways temporary lounge in Chiang Mai she asked if there was on in BKK as well when she went back last week. Wait until she sees the lounges in HKG and SIN. ;)

She might understand you may need the points and the SCs, but what is preventing you to sit in her seat in Y and she in yours in J?? ;-)

Re: Heads up about program changes

Hmmm. You mean she is lying to me?

Is she also lying when she comes to golf with me and sits in the cart for 3-4 hours?

Why do women like to lie?

I'm sure she truly enjoys doing these things with/for you; but the slightest issue and all (and I mean ALL) these (plus interest) will come back to haunt you... consider yourself warned!!

You are a brave man IMHO JohnK. My wife knows some of the best "divorce" lawyers in Sydney so I wouldn't be game enough to ask.

But if they do get divorced, then she will have a case to argue that she is use to travel in business class and thus argue for a higher payout.

The discussion is all about a strategy of how to burn points after the changes take effect on 01 July. And of course one should be able to secure the best seat possible.

She wouldn't want it any other way. ;)

Seriously? She is 55kgs and I am 120kg. It makes no sense what so ever for her to sit in business with me cramped in economy.

As an old ad for NT Tourism used to say "it all depends on where you stand really". I'm sure it makes no sense to you, but it might make perfect sense to her!

I am sorry but I don't subscribe to the SWMBO theory. Not this lifetime. And I am not quite that stupid yet to let her have control of my FF accounts and hotel loyalty accounts.

So simply points are mine. Given the option of 2 RTW's in business or 3-4 RTW's in economy she'll take the extra trips in a heart beat.

She knows the budget does not stretch to a luxurious travel life. She's willing to compromise. The boundaries have been defined. Golf is not negotiable. Luckily she is not that greedy yet but if that was ever to happen....

Points of view again: you say "SWMBO"; she might say "understanding husband"!

These posts are all light hearted fun you know...

Heads up about program changes

SWMBO is not a theory. It is a reference to Rumpole of the Bailey. It seems that people who haven't watched the show or read the books take the term far too literally. The golden thread of the term is that SWMBO is little more than lip service, with Rumpole taking all steps to achieve his outcome not SWMBO's outcome. I guess it is rather passive aggressive with him clearly knowing what is expected but doing the opposite. Sometimes he wins sometimes she wins, it is much like the 'yes minister' sign off, the minister does not always win.

Must admit haven't watched the series... sounds like a good watch.

Yes I know.

I need to quickly plan how to use the points before further program changes kick in. Maybe the frequent flyer store would give me just as good value at ~1c/point.

High Sierra Endeavor set of 2 trolley cases for 26,500 points. Rough retail price of $249 perhaps cheaper. Worth it?

FASA for next June

Somewhere for a week or two

Far better than High Sierra

You still have a few days left to scheme up things.
