Re: Heads up about program changes

Ahh no. JohnK has made it abundantly clear over many years here he prefers rtw in economy as an award

It may have to be business now to get rid of the points quickly.

Do you think it is OK for me to sit in business and the fiancee in economy? I can get 3 trips that way. :p

Re: Heads up about program changes

If its a serious question then no... not ok. :)
Actually it was a serious question. And yes I have already asked her if it is OK if I sit in business and her in economy. You would be surprised with her answer but I wouldn't do it to her.

Absolutely. It's weirder when couples always have to be sitting together. It's a plane! What do you need to sit together for? Plus - more trips is a better solution for everyone.

if you were going to do it - I'd recommend booking yourself in Y to get the shadow, then swap seats at boarding. That way you get best of both :)

Sounds like you haven't yet learnt yes means no, and no means yes!! You better wise up quick mate, or you'll be traveling on your own real soon again :)

I am not surprised at all that she TOLD you it was ok, however once on board how she feels will be.... neglected. I don't think that it's appropriate

fine, sit separately , but do it in the same class of service. I don't care what you say, the other person is going to feel glum for the entire trip otherwise

The trial run will be getting to/from HKG Do, SIN Do and KUL/SIN lounge crawl next year.

She knows we cannot afford business for both and I need the SCs for status so I may fly business and her in economy. They are only short hauls anyway.

She is starting to understand frequent flyer programs and hotel loyalty programs and has asked me to save QFF points for our RTW trip(s) and to save the IHG points for hotel stays.

I think the lounges will also blow her away. She was quite impressed with the Bangkok Airways temporary lounge in Chiang Mai she asked if there was on in BKK as well when she went back last week. Wait until she sees the lounges in HKG and SIN. ;)

Different story for a 2 hour hop from Bangkok.... going on a long haul is not the same

You are a brave man IMHO JohnK. My wife knows some of the best "divorce" lawyers in Sydney so I wouldn't be game enough to ask.

Even better! The points will go even further and JohnK might be able stretch it out to four trips...

Hmmm. You mean she is lying to me?

Is she also lying when she comes to golf with me and sits in the cart for 3-4 hours?

Why do women like to lie?

Women don't lie, they just hold back on what they truly think and expect you to be able to read their mind to determine the actual truth. Duh ;)

Bit of supposition and generalisation here, given that a few of us (myself included) really only 'know' JohnK' through the forum.

Most of my international travel (750,000+ miles) has been in Y, and 9/10 it's been fine. Reasonable service, food, seating, etc.

I don't see why (if they're on a limited budget and partner is happy to travel in Y) it should be an issue. JohnK seems savvy enough to check on partner progress, and if all is good with them.....?

My comment had absolutely nothing to do with JohnK.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

With all the various non gender and reverse gender names that seem to crop up now I bet the cabin staff would not even blink if "Sir Galahad" John K sat in Y as Mrs JohnK and Mrs JohnK sat up front as Mr JohnK. Who knows they might have had sex changes or be trans gender/non gender/calathumpians, could even be Collingwood supporters ( heaven forbid !!).
Got to be careful nowadays with Political correctness questioning anything.
Points still rack up the same, JohnK gets his SC's but I bet life is a lot happier for Johnk when they arrive
Be a devil....give it a go.
