Heads up about program changes

The fact that I cannot fly anywhere internationally ex PER has had a far greater influence on my travel dollar distribution than the FF changes. It is the cascading effect QF have to worry about also.

I cannot fly internationally on QF which means earning 2700 QF SC for P1 in the 2015-2016 year will not be possible. I therefore only have to satisfy the four QF ~ rule for WP. At the extreme, my 2700 QF SC (actually over 3000 QF SC) could then drop to 40 QF SC for WP. Once I have made the final decision to abandon P1, which has basically been made for me, my Europe trips will be on CX and my trips to Asia on other airlines.

Exactly! If any other business removed their 'Prime' product from consumers then surely they would expect that the bottom line will be affected and more importantly 'The Consumer' would be irritated enough to potentially head to another provider. Having again qualified to WP (existing LTS) this year i will take advantage of the allowances i am 'permitted' but unless i head to Asia and Europe all via Sydney-Melbourne, a ludicrous idea considering my geographical position, then QF is not viable, not through my choice-my options have been removed by the provider. In relation to J* it is like ordering a Ferrari and receiving a Fiat 500, sure it's Italian and red, but not what i'm willing to pay for. No product means no business...Simply values over priorities

I understand but I was kind of thinking something like this golf trip with about 1 week in each

Phoenix, Scotland, Thailand

perhaps on point - special sale fares released today by QF - SYD-BKK-LHR-LAX (make your own way to PHX and back)-SYD - $2443 including the stopovers and all taxes.

So... the 140K saves $443 and possibly includes the side trips to Scotland and PHX. But you'd eanr miles form the trip which might off set those anyway.

My understanding was those fares were SYD-LHR only via DXB, but I didn't read the whole memo.

The email I have looks like it's a RTW in either direction but transiting DXB

They are RTW.

I actually went to the QF site and plugged in a sample itinerary that was sort of close to JohnK's preferred routing. I quoted the price that came back in my post above.

Ahh no. JohnK has made it abundantly clear over many years here he prefers rtw in economy as an award

It may have to be business now to get rid of the points quickly.

Do you think it is OK for me to sit in business and the fiancee in economy? I can get 3 trips that way. :p

In my previous relationship, I was told off for choosing a seat that was in the opposite aisle...

And while we're here... what does John's personal life has anything to do with, er, "heads up about program changes"?

It's a few posts back now but if you haven't read it the crux is:

The program has changed and has changed point burning strategies. We're discussing how this impacts seating arrangements for couples.

So tomorrow is the beginning of a 2 week work trip with flights that were booked before and after March (27, 28 or 29 whatever...), for travel before and after July 1 on QF and many OW partner airlines! I'm sure it's going to be "thrilling" to see how all these flight segments will credit to my account.

Can someone please clarify the new SC earn for travel after 1 July?

BNE-xMEL-ADL currently earns 100s/c in J... Is the new earn 60 s/c even travelling via MEL?

Only a few days away now.

I wonder if there will be a smooth transition on 01 July. Interesting to see how the system handles bookings after 01 July but were booked pre 29 March and post 29 March. I hope existing bookings are not affected.

Only a four days and a few hours and none of us will be left wondering anymore. I suspect mods may need to set up a new thread.
