Hello everyone,

I live in Australia on a partner visa. The visa is temporary for two years and then goes permanent. I was recently looking up travel insurance providers for an upcoming Europe trip but they all seem to have a clause about "Australian citizens & residents" only. Does anyone know of a "good" insurer where I could insure myself for traveling?

Thank you,
b3n

If you are here on a visa doesn't that classify you as a "resident"?

I would have thought so..... might be worth looking for an official position on that.. I'm sure there are legal ramifications way beyond eligibility for travel insurance! The question surely must have been settled?

You can still be a resident (ie living in Australia) without being a permanent resident, can't you?

I think that Medibank Private's travel insurance has this cover but am not sure.

Hi all,

I got insurance through Southern Cross Travel Insurance who define a "resident" to be someone who lives in Australia and who has Medicare access (which I have). It really seems to be a tricky subject and reading a lot of fine-print is necessary...

Does anyone have experiences with SCTI (scti(dot)com(dot)au)?

Thanks,
b3n
