Travel insurance for my 18 yo son travelling alone

Any tips on travel insurance for my 18yo son who just completed high school. He will be be travelling with mr J to USA this year then to Hawaii alone. Seems the QBE family policy (by any route/discount) only covers him if travelling together with Mr j?

Regardless of the company you choose ensure that the policy covers all his activities especially if he is planning on doing anything extreme e.g. White water rafting etc.
