Just wondering if any one here has some advice on Travel Insurance.
In May 2017 purchased annual travel policy with QBE to cover some small trips and European Cruise and travel for July/August 2018. In Sep 2017 i had a DVT (Clot in my leg) which broke apart and travelled to my Lungs (PE - Pulmonary Embolism). This cause of this event is still unknown but wasn't caused by long haul flight. By Jan 2018 scan showed all clots had dissolved completely and as a precaution i am on 20mg Xarelto to ensure no further clots and so far l am fine. QBE were fantastic. I advised them as a courtesy, of the situation and they were happy to cover any reoccurrence whilst on the July Trip given at the time policy taken out l had no pre-existing conditions.
My doctor has suggested l stay on meds as we have/are planning a number of OS/Long Haul trips over the next 2 years. Given we have plenty of points we have managed to secure F seats travel in Emirates A380 for the flights to Paris return in Sep/Nov 2019 so fortunate to not being stuck in a restricted position for long hours.!!
So l have approached QBE for this years annual policy and whilst they will cover me for travel, they have set a $100,000 limit on anything related to a clot, but all other benefits relating to other illnesses and injury are as normal.
Obviously l am feeling perfectly healthy and according to my Specialist the chance of a reoccurrence is very minimal (less than 2%). I asked QBE if l could pay an additional amount to increase the cover but they wouldn't do it.
Does anyone know of an Insurer who would provide such cover. I would happily pay extra for the peace of mind in case it does happen.
Appreciate any advice.
Merry Christmas and Happy and Safe Travels in 2019 to All.
