My favourite is Number 7/

7/. Keep the air vent above you open. Dampen a facecloth, place it over your face, and aim the air vent at the cloth. Helps with dryness.

Not sure it will catch on....

they have left off the major one - compression socks (sold by Scholl and others). It eliminates at least two or three of their 'top tips' dealing with swelling because you don't get any!

Their advice to use petroleum jelly is actually a safety hazard and is not recommended in the event oxygen masks were necessary. The following extract comes from this document: http://www.firsttoserve.com/files/cylinder_oxy.pdf

GREASE/FLAMMABLESNever use grease or oil on oxygen equipment. Keep equipment away from all flammable materials such as oil, grease,
aerosols, paints, gasoline and solvents. Do not use petroleum jelly
with oxygen.

Avoid a middle seat and where possible avoid having a seat in front of you just in case.

The best economy flight is the one where you fly business instead. Tends to get rid of most of the disadvantages.

The dryness I am taking to extremes the last few flights. Each time I go to the loo or get up to stretch my legs about 2-3 hours I have been using Nasonex to moisten my sinus. Prior to this I had been getting a sinus infection 2-3 days after arrival from my long haul flights.

Change into tracksuit for the flight. Although this is mainly so I at least look fresh in un-crumpled clothes upon arrival the other advantage is if I accidentally offend someone on the flight, hopefully they wont recognise me after I change back to street clothes. More comfortable to sleep in a tracksuit.

After my last couple of long-haul flights I've suffered from swollen eyelids for several days. I've seen a type of goggle called Tranquilleyes recommended for this: does anyone here have experience of using it?

Check in the lounge if a centre block is available just after the flight closes. When I made up my 'bed' with 3 blankets over 4 seats on QF A330 the CSM commented it would be more comfy than the Skybed Mk 1 in business ans I am inclined to agree.

Not just for Economy, but have a look at these eyeshades for sleeping:
Black Sleeping EYE Mask Blindfold Earplugs Test Relax Sleep Cover Light | eBay
There's several different similar versions and they're all very cheap so it's worth buying a few to find one that fits you best.

They're designed so that your eyelashes and eyelids don't touch the mask. Once you fall asleep your eyes naturally move around under the lids during the REM cycle and having some clearance so your lashes and lids don't brush up against or feel pressure from the mask is one less thing to disturb what can be a very fragile sleep in cattle class. It's not a problem for everyone, but it really helps me. And every tiny bit helps.

Yes, agree. Now that I have this type of eye shade I no longer have dreams of being blind.
