Travel credit converted into a Qantas Pass

Got an interesting email from QF: a credit voucher has been converted into Qantas Pass. On the surface, it seems to run as a credit which you can freely use to pay for future bookings (similar to VA travel credits).

If this works as it looks like, this is a good move. It brings flexibility into how to spend the credits.

how do I log in?

This has been going on for quite some time, and yes it is the best option - far better than a flight credit.
Well, possibly

despite apparently having exhausted, on tics priced at double or more pre-Covid red e-deal price, most of my Travel passes 6 months ago, they still appear on my listing.... I now have a long list of all sorts, even to the point where I lose track of which credits which....

Well that's a technology issue not an issue with the usefulness of travel passes as opposed to flight credits.

(and why I keep my own spreadsheet of all my credits that are active and what's what, and for what, and how much, and all that.

Hmmmm... wish I had gotten something like this. QF cancelled my points and pay US flight in Jul 2020 and by the time I went to rebook it with my 'credit' there was no way to tell if my points had been credited (I stopped checking after a while and the activity doesn't go that far back now). Additionally, the 'credit' statement from them never indicated anything about points being credited back (only $) and being so long ago I don’t remember what points I had back then or were used (because I wasn't allowed to use my credit for dom flights even though it was supposedly able to be broken up however I wanted)... gahhh the ambiguity and inconsistency.

Was it a classic reward booking?

Yes, doesn’t help when unexpected “twins” show up....

Well I have 2 travel passes with my name on them and b***er if I could find them in my account.
So yesterday Mrsdrron asked me to check on her travel passes. blow me down there were my 2 as well!

I have a flight credit that I would love to have been converted by QF to a Qantas Pass by now, but it never happened... :(

Hoping someone might know the answers to a couple of Qantas Flight Credit related questions, if I can ask these here - hoping to avoid a call to the Qantas Travel Credit Concierge... at least for now!

Flight Credit was from international travel that would have occurred in late March 2020, but was cancelled, for obvious reasons. It was me that cancelled the flights in early March 2020, once the writing was on the wall about impending travel restrictions, but I suspect it was cancelled by QF, later on, regardless. Credit was initially issued with the original booking reference, but was re-issued by QF with a new Flight Credit reference about a month later. It's due to expire 31 Dec 2023.

I'm planning to use the credit toward travel this year, and there are a couple of things I am concerned about... first, is that I was a solo traveller on this booking, but I'll want to use the value toward a booking for my little family of 3; has anyone had any success with such a request? I would still be a traveller on the booking, and the fare class will be higher than the original booking. Worst case, I could probably make 2 bookings over the premium line and get things like TCP linkage and seat assignments organised, but easier with one booking.

The second thing is that I'd been holding off on making bookings until a DSC offer showed up; there's very few premium cabin 'sale' fares around anyway, so no rush (other than availability). My concern with this part is that it may not technically be a *new* booking for the DSC offer, and so I wondered if anyone recalls if any similar promos since the pandemic began allowed for bookings using flight credits to be eligible. I do recall one was offering double QFF points specifically for using up travel passes and travel credits, so QF is obviously aware of the interest, and opportunity for some additional flown revenue.

Cheers,
Matt.

Methinks it was to do with who paid for the tics rather than who was the PAX.

I had this when my son was the PAX and I had paid for the fare...

Actually now have unexpected “triplets”
when I go to use the twin flight credit they bomb out and spiral into never never land
when I go to check out the triplet flight credit it fronts it up with the credit value and allows a booking to commence

does this apply to your situation ?
  • Flight credits for bookings made on or before 30 September 2021 can be used for multiple future bookings. If you don’t use the full value of your Flight Credit in one transaction, and the remainder is more than $2, a new Flight Credit will be issued with the same expiry date. You must book and travel before 31 December 2023.
noting
  • Any change fees that were applicable to the original booking apply when redeeming the Flight Credit (unless they have been waived).

alternatively But unlikely, Perhaps drop by a travel agent
Seems they’re allowed to do what you’re proposing by adding PAX to the booking etc

Thank you! That exception option to rebook with a name change and new PNR should actually resolve both of my concerns if I can find the right person to take my call. Qantas will be able to do this directly, using the same authority code.

Once ready to book (and so long as it’s prior to March 31), I could have my flight credit voucher reissued in my wife’s name and that action would mean a new booking/PNR generates for her… and then I can book separately a new PNR for me and my son that is linked TCP to my wife’s booking.

A little messy, and might take a few tries to get the agent that wants to help, but should work!

Cheers,
Matt.

The problem with those claims of being allowed for 'multiple future bookings' is that it can't be used towards domestic (at least that's what I was told when I tried to book 2 different times citing my credit).
Also, i went to see if my points were credited for a points and pay and the app does not go back that far (2019) and when I rang to ask they couldn't find a way to check. The whole thing has been a debaucle.

I'm trying to use my Flight Credit for a Tokyo - Canberra booking, but there is no option at all to use it.
I can't see in the terms that It has to be an Australian originating flight.
I'm on hold with QA now, for who knows how long to find out why I am unable to add it.

Flight Credits I believe had/have the condition of for flights from Oz. IIRC they are in AUD (unless the original flight was booked from another country?) and I'm sure that's the problem.

A (good) agent may be able to sort out the conversions and make it work, I'm unsure.

Was the original booking booked for a flight in or ex-AU?
