My passport is about to enter that lovely stage of 6 months out from expiry, literally the week I depart on my next RTW trip.

On this trip I am transiting in DXB. Whilst all the information I can find online states that I will be fine, I can't find any official source stating transiting with less than 6 months on a passport is fine.

Has anyone else had transited the UAE without entering the country with less than 6 months on their passport?

I don't particularly want to get a new passport as my current one already has an ESTA attached to it which will be valid for the trip.

Thoughts / experiences / links to official websites?

No experience with DXB, but as your transiting, I'd imagine it would be ok.

But, you are going on a RTW with less than 6 months on your passport? Not a smart idea IMO. Where else are you going? I just renewed my passport a month or 2 ago, but travelled to Turkey earlier this year when I had just over 6 months left. Some quick research back then told me I was fine, but there is a reasonable list of countries that require 6 months. ALso quite a lot at the 3 month mark, especially european countries. I hope you have checked that out.

The other 2 places are the US and the UK. The passport will be more than 3 months before expiry, but just shy of 6 months. The trip is around 1.5 weeks, so it's not a long one.

Even if you were stopping over in DXB your passport could be valid for 3 months but for some reason not for AUH. For a transit you should be fine as per the above Timatic info posted above by Melbourne Traveller.
