transit with check in at changi

Looking to book a singapore airlines flight outward bound from changi at just 00.40 But need to get into changi from penang.

I have an option of airasia which arrives at 9pm or a singapore airlines flight that arrives at 10.30pm.

would i need to go through immigration between flights if i book with singapore airlines for both legs? or can i do transit and organise my luggage to be transferred?

with airasia is 3.5 hours enough time to get out check back in for the singapore airlines flight?

If you book both SQ you’ll be able to checkin and through check bags for both in Penang.
