I am contemplating a transit through DPS, I have never been to DPS and do not know the transit process. I have looked on the web it seems to suggest that I need to go through immigration and re checkin, is this correct. Flights likely to be QF43 connecting to MH to KUL.

Thanks

I have transited at DPS many times but only from/to Domestic. I cant imagine why you would have to clear immigration, I havent ever noticed a transfer desk (or not) but I havent ever looked for one.

You need to be very careful with anything you read on the web about DPS, many will be outdated. The airport went under major reconstruction several years ago, with many temporary arrangments being made along the way, like Domestic check in, at International terminal for a period. I went through there several times in one year, and each time was very different.

I suggest you ring your airline. they will know the current requirements.

I have done something similar and my understanding is that you will need to stay overnight in DPS. The last flight to KUL on MH usually departs at 1920 hours and QF43 doesn't arrive until after 2100.

Given this, you will need to go through immigration and I would recommend staying at the Novotel at the airport overnight. This is particularly pertinant if you have checked luggage as DPS baggage takes forever (usually around an hour).

I found the hotel really comfortable and the breakfast buffet was outstanding. On checkout you will be able to walk straight from the hotel to the check in desks.

MH has a new flight departing DPS at 1.10am so overnight at DPS is not necessarily required.

I previously needed to transfer from MH to JQ. The only transfer desk I could find on arrival was for Garuda so I had no choice but to enter the country and check in as normal upstairs.

I'm currently transiting through DPS on my way to SIN on a separate ticket and was told at check-in that it was an Indonesian government requirement to pick up my bag even though it has been tagged through. Sure enough, my bag appeared on the carousel after I cleared immigration...
