Transit in Dallas Fort worth

If you have your AA pnr you can log on to www.aa.com & on the day the departure & arrival times along with your gate numbers will appear in the pnr.

Unless you have access to a lounge, LAX Airport does not offer free Wi-Fi to be able to check this. Your best bet may be the Starbucks which is landside at T4 before going through the TSA screening point.

There is free access to the AA site only using the onboard Go-Go Wi-Fi however not all aircraft have wi-fi. AFAIK only B737's & MD-80's have Wi-Fi & 767's & 757's do not.

My flight number from LAX to DFW is 2433. Everything is on the one ticket from my starting flight from BNE-SYD-LAX-DFW-SCL and all booked by Qantas. I called Qantas before and they said we should be fine with the 70 minute transit time but I didn't mention to them what if the inbound LAX-DFW flight were even 30 mins late then I would be in trouble!!

I would rather wait 5 hours at an airport for my next flight than running through the terminal like a crazy woman trying to make my next flight....can we check on-time performances??....that would be an idea...

Are your flights LAX/DFW/SCL on the same day you fly BNE/SYD/LAX? If so, then your bags should be tagged all the way from BNE to SCL however you would need to claim them in LAX where you will do the customs & immigration bit.

Thank you... I will have several hours at LAX before the 3.15pm departure flight so will ask at the check in if they will permit this, if not then I will just see what happens.

I wasn't concerned with the Immigration processes too much because I knew that would all be done in LAX but it was more if the flight was delayed too much into DFW. We are flying next month.

Been plenty of times where I have gone to the airport early and asked AA for an earlier flight. When explained the tight connection, they have always been happy to accommodate if there's a spare seat. Worth a shot.
Either way, I think you should be fine.

You would need to ask AA about the change of flight before dropping off your bags otherwise they generally won't put you on flights that differ to the flights reflected on your bag tags.

You would be dropping off your bags at the bag drop at TBIT after clearing customs which means your checked bags tagged for the original flights are no longer in your possession by the time you get to T4.

Arrival in LAX.
- Go through the customs hall (this can take a while) and collect baggage
- Go do the AA Connecting/ Redeposit desk and see if you can change flights there (will depend on how quickly you have gotten through customs... If you have luggage this is the best place as it can be tagged correctly). Failing that ask to standby on earlier flights.
- Go into T4.
- If unsuccessful before, try again at lounge/ service desk.

Whenever I've been to the redeposit desk to drop bags post customs, although there are checkin counters they always appear to be unmanned so there is no opportunity to ask any airline staff about changing flights - only to drop off bags on the luggage belt.

If there are no AA staff there at the time I would take your checked baggage with you to T4 so you have the opportunity to ask AA about the flight change whilst the bags are still in your possession.

If they can't change them, they can still send the bags off for the original flights. If they are able to change flights then they can rip the old tags off & put new ones off to reflect the new flights booked.
