Hi all,

Long time lurker, first time poster.

Myself and the family are doing NTL->BNE ->DPS and return on JQ

I am a QC member (and may be very close or just SG at the time) so would like to take advantage of the QF International Business Lounge on the way over and the QP on the way back.

There is a bit of a gap between the flights
NTL 06:00 BNE 07:10 -> BNE 17:40 - DPS 21:45
return
DPS 23:15 BNE 06:55 -> BNE 15:30 NTL 16:45

so what is the best way to handle our luggage considering we cant check in until 3hrs prior and if we store our luggage could we even access the Intl lounge and then go back out to checkin?

The only other flight NTL ->BNE lands at BNE at 15:10 and with collecting our luggage and then getting on TBus to Intl it scrapes it a bit tight with the checkin and bag drop closing 60mins prior as it is 787 flight.

Thanks

Not sure if you want to do that, but you can spend the day in the BNE domestic lounge until the JQ checkin open.

"When you arrive at a lounge, show your Qantas Club card along with your ticket or boarding pass. Qantas Club members may access a Qantas Club or Qantas operated International Business lounge when their next onward flight that day has a Qantas or Jetstar flight number on their ticket."

Ok, could do that. What do we do with our luggage?

Thanks

You could put them in storage (there are lockers at the DOM terminal: Brisbane Airport Corporation - What to do while in Transit) and go back through security and to the QF dom lounge.

The alternative would be not to collect your bags from the carousel and pick them up later from the baggage service (but for such a long layover I'm not sure it's a viable option...)

If you don't want to head out of the airport, I guess the dom lounge is the only option. The dom and int terminals are separated, so when you arrive from NTL, you'll want to go pick up the luggage, lock up anything you don't want to use, then head back through to the dom QP. In the afternoon, allow enough time to catch the bus to the international side, and then you can use the international lounge as per a normal departure.

On the way back, you can only use the international lounge if you go through international transit - which would not be possible in your case. So, head over to the dom and use the lockers again.

Also, note that there is no QP lounge in DPS. There's a contract lounge for JQ but it's only for their max-bundle pax.

And in any case, for such a long transit, I would consider catching the train out and have a stroll around town, or at least hop on the bus and walk around Skygate.

Maybe spending some of the time at DOM QP and SkyGate might be an idea.

For 5 pax the Airtrain is stupidly expensive and a cab would be better if we were to go to the Valley or City

For DPS i use the Veloce lounge as i am an ANZ Black AMEX holder.

Can you get the free TBus from Dom to Skygate?

Are all the flights booked through QF or JQ? What are your actual flight numbers?

If your outbound flight NTL/BNE is operated by a Qlink Dash8 and is in the same pnr as the BNE/DPS flight then QF in NTL can through check your bags to DPS and you may or may not receive both boarding passes depending of whether the link is working between the QF & JQ systems at the time you checkin.

If you booked QF NTL/BNE and JQ BNE/DPS separately you will need to collect your bags at the domestic terminal and put them into storage in the lockers out the front of the domestic terminal. Same deal if booked JQ NTL/BNE/DPS (even in the one JQ pnr) ie pick up bags at BNE and put into storage at the domestic terminal.

You could then spend a few hours in the QP before retrieving your bags from the locker and taking the TBus from the domestic to the international terminal. The bus is free and you can take checked luggage on the bus with you.

With lounge access in DPS note that the Premier Lounge is not operated by QF so the only way to get access is via Priority Pass membership or if you are travelling JQ Star Class and paid the plus bundle.

Oceania Aviation are the ground handler for the JQi flights than depart from BNE International. You can also complete your green departure cards via the app:

Brisbane Airport Corporation - Mobile App - Departure Card Feature

All flights are JQ. I couldn't my wife to get on a Dash 8, i fly on them weekly but anything with a prop is a no for her.

I have access to the Premier Lounge at DPS through the Veloce membership as part of my ANZ AMEX Black

Another question for another thread i will raise oneday is why QF still have a hard product like the Dash 8 which is clearly showing it age on this route when VA have the Embraer

I like Dash8, QF gives free wine/beer on these flights! :p

Can you get the free TBus from Dom to Skygate?

On the way home after clearing customs you could take your bags on the Tbus to the domestic terminal, put your bags into storage then have a shower and breakfast in the QP then take Uber X into town. On the way bag you could take the City Cat from Riverside in the CBD to Portside at Hamilton then get Uber back to the domestic terminal.

I flew in a Q400 CBR/SYD and was surprised how much legroom there was. Way more than whY on the JQ 787.

Ok so i would just present my QC card and ticket at DOM QP as i wouldn't have my BNE-DPS boarding pass yet?
