I am travelling to South Korea (Yongpyong) for a week of snowboarding on the 3rd March arriving at Incheon at 17:30.

All transfer buses appear to cease in the city, on Saturdays, at 18:00 and I doubt I will have cleared Customs and travelled to the city by then.

Does anyone know of a contact where I can hire a limo or similar to get 2 people from the airport to the resort, about 3.5 hours away?

The only possibilities I have at the moment is $350.00 for a taxi, almost half the cost of a weeks accommodation, or overnight in Seoul but I am already booked at the resort on the arrival date.

Any assistance will be appreciated.

I recently came back from South Korea and went to Alpensia, which is very close to Yongpyong. Unfortunately you would have missed the direct shuttle bus to Yongpyong from Incheon so you'll probably have to do things the hard(er) way.
Enjoy Your Life? Say, "YongPyong"

Your best option is to take the public buses
Enjoy Your Life? Say, "YongPyong".

They start at the Eastern Seoul bus terminal (Dongseoul), so from Incheon you can either take the subway (what I did) and get off at Ganbyeon station and walk across the road, or there is a bus option as well. If you take the subway you will need to change at Seoul Station to another line to reach Ganbyeon. You might also want to get a t-money card if you'll be travelling around Seoul afterwards (it's their t-card, myki, go, oyster, octopus card)

At Dongseoul (big building complex) get a ticket to Hwenngye. Should be about $20 per person. Once you arrive, there's a taxi rank opposite where they can take you to where you want to go. Should be about $10-15.

I was unlucky enough to miss my express shuttle bus to Alpensia (by 2 mins!) so had to figure this all out on the day, and I took the exact same route.

It sounds like a lot of effort, but it's definitely cheaper then a taxi ride the whole way. If you can read a map, have a bit of patience, and a sense of humour, you should be ok :). English speaking koreans are more miss then hit, so they'll be a lot of gesturing and point. I suggest you grab maps of the subway and seoul, and your resort printed in korean to make life easier.

From the Korea Travel Guide;

Local Transportation
Incheon International Airport - Yongpyong Resort: Take the bus bound for Wonju at the Bus Stop 9C at Incheon International Airport (Service Hours: 09:10 ~ 21:10 / Travel Time: 2 hours, 30 minutes / Fare: ₩12,100) - Transfer to the bus bound for Hoenggye at Wonju Cross-Country Bus Terminal (7:40am ~ 19:40pm / Travel Time: 1 hour, 40 minutes / Fare: ₩6,100) - Get off at Hoenggye Cross-Country Bus Terminal - Take the free shuttle bus to Yongpyong Resort in front of Hoenggye Post Office next to the terminal.

Hope this helps :)

Thanks for the info ZeroPoint. One more question, what is the best way to deal with the currency?

Change to won here in Australia or over there? I heard that some places don't particularly like $US. What did you find??

When I was there I used a combination of my 28 degrees mastercard and citi select credit card. I loaded about 3k onto the 28 degrees and withdrew about 150k KRW each time which lasted me a couple days from the ATM. Try and pick a global bank like Citibank or HSBC to avoid any withdrawal fee.

You'll find credit cards are widely accepted in Seoul, and if you're inside YongPong resort many places will take it as well. They've got cool digitised signing pads. For other places I used the cash (eg. taxi's). Within Incheon Airport and Seoul there's a few places to exchange money, but when you head out to the country towns they're not as common (you'll have to ask the locals).

If you haven't, I'd suggest getting a 28 degrees card. It'll make it much easier I think.

I currently have a Travellex, will that do the same thing?

I didn't see many of those around. Are there any in South Korea?

There's a giant thread about the 28 degrees mastercard here:
http://www.australianfrequentflyer....tercard-cash-advances-6960-94.html#post557245

If you apply now you may be able to get it before you leave. 28 degrees credit card provides one of the best, if not the best, exchange rate available. It's very close to the spot rate, with no additional fees associated (annual card fee, foreign transaction). If you happen to have a Citibank Plus account they have a similar offer.

If you don't want to go to the trouble of applying for a new account, then AUD is accepted within Seoul, but can't say the same for the smaller towns. You might have to hunt around.
