Hi,
I have a trip booked with Lufthansa where I fly Sydney to Singapore and then Singapore to Munich. The flight to singapore is codeshare with singapore air, and lufthansa air singapore to munich.

What happens to my bags in the time between them? I havent transferred internationally, before so Im not sure what happens in relation to them.

In Sydney, the check-in agent will tag your bags to Munich. The ground staff will transfer your bags from the inbound SQ aircraft to the departure LH aircraft and you will collect them upon arrival at Munich. You will just be in transit in Singapore and will not see your checked bags while there.

Wow, do SQ fly SIN-MUC direct, or is it via Frankfurt?

I wasnt aware of a SIN-MUC direct flight.

Thanks - the last two times i've been to MUC it was via Frankfurt. Admittedly that was 15 and 10 years ago!

Looking forward to going again (but will be RTW ex-LHR and driving from STR).

What about If I want to stay in the airport at night? The flight arrives 9pm in Singapore and my next flight does not leave until 10pm the next day.

Then its not considered a transit. Its considered a stopover. And with a stopover your bags will only be tagged to the stopover location and you will be required to collect your bags there and then recheck them when check-in opens for the onward flight.

Check-in should be open upon arrival at 9pm.

Singapore have 48 hours check-in at SIN - worst case for the OP is to collect bags and recheck immediately. However, it is quite possible they will be able to check the bags all the way through at SYD.
