HI All!!
1st day and 1st Q! ;)
Wanted to ask advice, travelling to Barcelona and taking a JAL flight to Paris then need to get a flight onwards to Barcelona.
JAL lands in CDG @ 4.40pm and EasyJet takes off @ 6.25pm. Never having been to CDG or flown EasyJet before, do you think this leaves enough time to clear customs and recheck for EasyJet flight?
EasyJet sight says checkin closes 40mins prior to departure so that realistically leaves 1hr (if JAL lands on time etc).
Do u think this is wise? Honestly? It's just that EasyJet flight is only $90 AUD while any other carrier starts at around $350 each.
Or do you think that it's best to overnight in Paris and catch a flight out the next morning?
Thanks all!
Cheers

Welcome reills78

I don't have any experience with CDG transfers, but that 100 minute connection looks pretty tight, considering you must clear customs and re-check your bag, and EasyJet has a strict 40 minute cut off.

If it were me, I'd reconsider your options, including paying a bit more for a later flight. I'd be aiming more for a minimum of 2.5 hours. Others here - especially with CDG experience - might like to chime in. Perhaps I'm being too conservative.

1h40m is way to short. Personally i'd be aiming for not less than 2h30min. And even then, i'd be nervous until i'd deplaned. Remember, with the 40m cutoff, 2h30m is really only 1h50m. It doesnt take much of a delay at a departure port to lose 1h+, leaving you with a fairly short turnaround to get luggage, clear and recheck.

Leave as much time as possible. When you get to your destination, all you will want to do is sleep anyway. Best do it in Paris even if at an airport hotel.
The Skytrax reviews use a lot of adjectives describing connections at CDG. but not many nice ones.

The other problem is connecting to a low cost carrier. No come back if you are late. They won't accept delayed connections involving their own flights let alone other airlines. Our neighbours had a delayed Ryanair flight and missed another Ryanair flight from Stansted. Ryanair didn't want to know. They had to find a new flight and buy new tickets at that days prices. (Forgive me, your question implies that you may realise that anyway).

However my only experience of CDG was 5 years ago arriving from Malaysia very early in the morning so nobody was about and no delays in customs or baggage. I was only connecting to the RER train. But that picked up a full load of commuters before stopping in tunnel under Paris for 2.5 hours. Never found out the reason but that's another story

I've been to CDG a few times, last time being last year flying Air France from Seoul to Rome via Paris

CDG is huge and your connection time is not enough, most likely you will be changing terminals - even if it's within CDG2, it may take forever. Not sure what terminals you arrive at and leave from but you need at least, I'd say 2.5 hrs - you need to clear immigration, get you bags and work out how to get from one pier to another in CDG2, which is not as easy as it seems, might need to catch a bus. If you transfer from CDG2 to 1 or 3, it may take even longer.
