Hi all,

It's been a few years since I've been through LAX and I have a question about a domestic connection on AA.

I'm arriving into LAX from NAN on FJ at 1325 and am wanting to book a flight to LAS, the 1435 is probably not going to work :p so is the 1655 flight going to give me enough time to transfer? Also does anyone know if FJ will interline the bags through to LAS?

Flying J if that makes any difference whatsoever?

Minimum is 2 hours but I always feel easier if it was 3 hours minimum. QF will interline bags to just about any airline. Not sure about FJ. Best to ask the FJ whether you can interline bags to airline "x". You need to know which Dom airline you are connecting to.
If you can check bags thru final destination (ie- the bags have tags to final dest), you still need to collect your bags and then drop them off at the luggage transfer area.

If you cannot check bags thru final dest you will need to check in at relevant terminal.

If you can check bags thru but don't have boarding pass for Dom leg you will need to pickup boarding pass at checkin. In this case as your bags already in system, you are now checking in 0 bags. Important otherwise you may have to pay baggage fees depending on your ticket. This is the bit that I am never sure about how that shows up in their system. Always best to try to pickup boarding pass at origin. QF is very good at this. Or else do online checkin.

Ease of Interlining bags does not depend on class of travel. It depends on your airline's internal policies and your ticket. If your ticket includes the US Dom leg in the same airline PNR (not travel agent pnr) then your bags will interline. If it doesnot then it depends on the level of service your airline is prepared to offer and its interline agreements. FJ is not a member of Oneworld or any other major alliance. Check with FJ
Always happy to stand corrected.

If there is an baggage interline agreement in place QF will thru check to that airline if both flights are in the same pnr so when you checkin for the QF flight the oncarriage flight is already visible eg BNE QF SYD AC YVR or ADL QF SYD UA SFO.

In the above example there is also an IATCI agreement between QF & AC so you would also get your AC boarding passes when you checkin st QF.

There is no IATCI agreement with QF & UA so although you may be able to thru check bags you would still need to checkin in at UA in SYD or OLCI.

If separate pnrs are involved then the onward carrier must be a member of the One World Alliance eg AA or US.

I'm not flying QF at all, it's an FJ flight (Qantas Partner Award) from AKL to LAX and I'll be connecting onto an AA flight which I'll be booking shortly.

Looks like it'll be fine.
