Transfer Australian AMEX points to American AMEX points

Thanks @sudor for clarifying I wanted to see if there were any other options that wouldn't loose too much in conversion. And was also wondering about Aeroplane and Advantage.

Apologies for triple-checking, but this is all very new and rather confusing...

Hypothetically, if I wanted to end up with 103,500 United points I would need to use 302,400 Amex points. Yah?

AMEX 👉 (3:2) + 50% = Bonvoy 👉 (3:1) + 25% United
302,400 👉 (201,600) 302,400 👉 (100,800) 103,500
I believe there is a 10,000 bonus for every 60,000 Marriott points transferred to United.
225,000 Amex to Marriott (with 50% bonus) = 225,000 Marriott Bonvoy points
60,000 Marriott = 30,000 United (60,000/3 + 10000 bonus)
225000 Marriott = 105,000 United (180,000/3 + 30,000 bonus + 45,000/3)
Considering 225000 Aus Amex points = 112,500 Airline points, so ending up with 105,000 United isn't too bad. Obviously only works with the Amex to Marriott transfer bonus though.

I'd say it is very good for Australian Amex. 2:1 is about as good as it gets in Australia. 1:1 is the province of the US Amexes.

I don't think that calculation is correct as you get a 10k United miles bonus for every 60,000 Bonvoy points.

180,000 Bonvoy @ 3:1 = 60,000 United PLUS 30k bonus United = 90k total United.

You need an extra 13500 United, which at 3:1 is an extra 40500 Bonvoy.

180,000 + 40,500 Bonvoy = 220,500 Bonvoy, which is 1:1 with Amex MR with the current transfer promo.

To maximise the Marriott-United partnership, you would transfer 240k Bonvoy (240k Amex MR with the current promo) into 120k United miles.

EDIT:

Somehow your post wasn't showing up while I was drafting mine - but glad we agree!

Very straightforward. Contact the Global Transfer team and they will be able to assist.

Best done when the Australian dollar is high compared to the US as the transfer rate very roughly reflects the currency exchange rate.

Phone numbers are:

For Personal card: call the U.S. Global Card Transfer team at 877-621-2639, available 24 hours a day, and 7 days a week.

For Business card: call the U.S. Global Card Transfer team at 877-673-6936 or 800-433-3550 available from 07:00 to 24:00 Eastern Standard Time, 7 days a week.
So, just to clarify

i have an Australian Platinum card and a US Gold card. I want to transfer my Australian points to my US account

So, from the above, colloquially speaking what we actually want/intend to do is ask the American Amex people to come over and grab my Aussie points and take them back to the US; not ask the Australian Amex people to send my points to their cousins in the US (which is what I was originally planning to do).

is that right?

I did it by chat while logged in my Australian account. The agent asked for the US card number (where to send the points to). It could see that it would work the other way around as well (levelnine's post) since both accounts belong to you and Amex agent (from whatever country) seems to have access to both.

About to initiate the process - do you recall about how long it took for your points to appear in your US Amex account?

Is it possible to transfer Amex Gateway points to US credit card or only 'Ascent' points? The exchange rate has lifted a little so I'm thinking of initiating a transfer if possible.
