Train Travel Between Kuala Lumpur and Singapore

Over 25 years ago I travelled by Train between Kuala Lumpur Singapore (Tanjong Pajar back then) using KTMB. In February I am considering making such a journey again.

Do any have recent experiences with this travel?

I do see mention of a recent commencement of a high speed service - certainly beats the 8 hour Day trips I did in the late 90's.

Much has changed

The train sets have been modernised
They are called ETS trains between KL and JB
The silver trains stop at every stop, gold less stops, while the platinum trains have the fewest stops

Silver/Gold/Plat also have different comfort levels thought the new ETS2 train sets have a "J" class section

Loos are much better than the old clickety clackers where the loos open onto the tracks

Immigration is still the hassle with Malaysia immigration at JB then transfer to the Shuttle train to Woodlands for Sing immigration. Exit train at Woodlands

Competes favourably with airlines in terms of point to point travel time and a lot cheaper

Here is a YouTube video we watched yesterday about the new trains. Not the most exciting production but you do get a good look at the train set-up etc. At the moment the newer ones only run twice a day. It appears that the new MRT Link from Woodlands to JB will not open until 2027.
