Yep, I think they've overplayed the "manager" angle a bit. The sender of this message doesn't seem that out of touch with the issue that was brought before him/her.

However, as a pax with limited knowledge of airline operations I have to say it horrifies me to think that complaints of fatigue are being met with this hostility.

The sender appears to indicate that pilots in MEL have it worse than most. This really makes me think twice about flying JQ out of MEL in the future.

Today this tweet came through from Jetstar:

JetstarAirways
We just want to remind our customers Jetstar has the same high standards of fatigue management as Qantas and takes pilot fatigue seriously.

Now that the Tiger guys got their EBA through, Id say there would be quite alot interested in shifting across considering they are on more $$$ with zero overnights and no Qantas group garbage.

After reading the letter - toughen up princess...

From a PR point of view (esp once nonews gets their hands on it) not so good to get published, but as the mockier states, this is no news.

It does seem like the pilot in question complained that being a pilot is not a 9 to 5 job...

It's pretty frightening to read some of those no news reader comments re: the flight crew. To compare flying an aeroplane with driving a bus is stupid, to say the least, but it appears the general public seems to think they're all experts in the aviation field. I guess that's exactly what JQ management are trying to achieve, it allows them to even further reduce the pay and conditions that pilots are suffering in Australia.

Funny how peoples opinions change when the crew need to be at their best to save the public's backsides (ie: QF32)
